Buddy is an 11 month old Collie cross Greyhound who has had a bit of a life so far to say the least! He was was stolen at 4 weeks from his mum and sold, at 4 months old he was found by the police tied up in a kitchen. He had never been outside or taught to walk on the lead before the lady who rescued him took him in and gave him all the affection and confidence he needed however she didn’t know how to train him, unfortunately she went through a difficult patch and asked if we could take him for re-homing.

Buddy is lovely however he needs a owner who is willing to take on a project because some of his issues are not going to go over night and are going to take repetition to solve, for instance he pulls on the lead and has paddy’s if he can see other dogs to play with and can’t get off, however after being tied up for so long he panics if the lead tightens on him, we also believe he has been beaten because if he feels you getting frustrated with him he panics and wants to run away.

We now have him in a halti which has improved this by at least 50%, however he is also going through his teens and although when off the lead he wont bolt off he wont let you catch him (it took me an hour the other day, we tried everything treats, toys etc!!lol) he thinks it is one big game and again if he thinks your getting frustrated with him, he then wont let you catch him because I think he thinks he is going to get a smack.

In the house he is a star, he has a fascination with taking his bed outside in the garden and although he is chewing as long as you provide him with enough toys and chews he wont touch anything else, he is a typical sight hound in the fact that he will raid a kitchen if he gets the opportunity and he is not good with small furries. Buddy currently lives with children who are 12+ and he has been fantastic, he is brilliant with other dogs, wants to chase horses like mad (I think that is the Collie in him!).

I know he sounds like a challenge but he is only a baby and he has been through hell and back and I think he will make an amazing boy if someone has got the time and patience to get through his issues with him, he loves to chase and was very proud of himself when he caught a rabbit the other day (it was full of mixi and a bit of an easy catch!!) he chases the lure and seems to enjoy the game and once you get him focused and enjoying himself he will do anything for you

Bless him, he's still only a youngster and it sounds as though he has a lovely nature despite all he's been through, I'm sure in the right hands with some training and patience he'll be a fabulous dog

Good luck finding the right home for him :luck:

I hope someone comes forward, he could really do with a bit of luck, however we still have had no response :- ( As a rescue we always tell you how the dogs are at there worst so you know adsactly what you are taking on and although this finds the right home for the dog, we tend to take longer to find the right home than other rescues. However we are one of very few rescues that are pro lure coursing, I think it is amazing fun and therapy for dogs, we have brought several dogs right out of there shell with a fun day at lure coursing, to me it is agility for sight hounds!!! I love to see that big goofy smile on there face when they have caught ther lure and then later on when they are happy and contant back on the sofa!!!

If you here of anyone that you think is suitable I would really appreciate it if they could send them my way, he is a real star.

Sarah x

Poor little Buddy is still here and looking for his person, we have not had one call for him :- ) If anyone one would like to meet him with no obligation that is fine, I would also like to mention that we offer a one week home trial to see if he fits in with your lifestyle. If anyone is interested please call Sarah or Ross on 02380893188 or e-mail info@allanimalrescue.co.uk.

He sounds lovely but he'll need lots of patience and gentleness to come good. Hope the right person contacts you soon.

This weekend Buddy has turned a real corner, his recall is now fabulous and thanks to my friends dog hating pony Buddy has learned that horses are not really something to chase and if provoked will chase back!!! lol

We also learned that he just adores men, on investigation we found out from the police that it was a women that was responsible for abusing him. However he is brilliant with all the female staff here and only becomes nervous if he feels he is in trouble. If he stays on this track I can safely say that Buddy's rehabilitation is 98% there.

Buddy is such a fantastic boy and just wants to be played with, have his brain and body excercised and he will do anything to please you in return.

Has this gorgeous boy found his home yet?
