and still no results?  :- "
To be fair, the idea of having an open draw is a good one, but the drawback is that you have to write so fast that the names of the dogs look like they have been written by a doctor from outer mongolia  :b So even tho I have my copy it's prob not readable :( Will show it to you tomorrow carole and see if you can guess dogs names!!

chris

Well Done everybody  although would like to see some results

Congratulations to the NNWRF on doing a full open draw  I see where your coming from Chris, but I do believe that the way forward is an 'open draw' at all events. The NNWRF recognise the fact that the draw needs to be seen to be fair.

I do hope that the same will happen at the BWRA Champs next weekend.

Come on Karen keep up results are on!!!!!!

NNWRF Highgate Results !!!!!!

Just an idea, would it be possible to type the card up as it is drawn and say hook up a laptop to a printer? That way people could hear the draw so they would know their own races but there wouldn't be delays waiting for people to write up their cards? I don't know how feasible this is of course.

It does seem to go down well with racers and it'd be nice to see it continue with any niggles ironed out so it was easier for everyone concerned.

Spot on. BWRA Champs would be easiest place to do it as well as all the racing is scratch. Absolutely no good reason why there can't be an open draw at all opens, next week more so and like Jac says, the programmes can be printed straight away, no need for people to handwrite their own.

Failing that i'm sure any owners with seeded dogs are well entitled to watch their draw taking place.

There is no obvious reason why a computer prgramme couldn't be produced whereby dogs are entered onto a laptop as they are weighed in and one minute past the end of weigh in prgrammes start to be printed out.

No-gone to the great car heaven in the sky some years ago.

Would it not be possible t draw a number when weighing in and paying for dogs ---

Put it along side name of dog/bitch and start with number 1-100 whatever weight group they are in---- the lowest goes in red next lowest in same class blue-so on and so forth --

Could have another bag of numbers for scratch with only 0-30 that way what you draw yourself is what you get and no arguments--

This was the system we used when we had a hundred plus dogs regular away at club meetings and we got through races before darkness fell ---

tried doing a program like that , only challenge i came upon was owners with 2 dogs in same class ...but then again i am not good at building programs

the only problem is seeded dogs ...if no dogs were seeded the number thing would be a good idea

open draws OK when possible not always so on the straights :b i think its time racers showed more faith in there committees before theres no one left to run opens :( IMO if people dont trust committees then the best thing is to have 4people from diferent regions invited intop the draw maybe :)

agree with u totally there gaz 4 instance @ the rising sun the pub let us use their other room to do programmes etc sometimes they might have a kiddies party on there later in the day & they r setting up 4 that, so no way wud they allow all the whippet racers 2 b in there 4 an open draw. ok if the weather is fine u cud do it outside but if its pouring down u cudnt. even if just had one person from a different region wud that make it fair? say @ wallsend u cud have someone from south yorks if any attended

it wudnt work in a yards for pounds race though wud it? heaviest dog always red trap

Personally i haven't got a problem with doing Fed's draw in public when possible , and as jac's says rigging the lap top up and printer to type program out as there drawn ...only problem as Carole says when the room your allocated to use at events is very small , but as gaz has said then a couple of independent people present...

has there been a complaint about the draw or something? i mean have i missed something? ive always just accepted that the draw is done fairly and if u dont get your box well u dont get your box. wot does annoy me is when people seed their dogs say left & their dog goes right even after half a dozen races. fair enuf u may make a mistake once or twice. or when people seed their dog & it doesnt need to b seeded. we used to seed crackin whizz right then she stopped going right so we stopped seeding her.

I have not heard of any one stating that there is a problem ----

as i understood it was open for suggestions to not only improve the draw --

but also allow fair play to be witnessed by all who may have had doubts--

The way i have suggested might encounter seeding problems but there are those already so nothing new there ---

i know that if i am in a race off levels with either a out and out left/right sided runner i would swop traps if it were allowed as my concern for my dog must be paramount ----

all to often dogs are seeded left and run right ---

i think we should do away with seeding and allow racers to apply some common sense on their own as it is their dogs who are liable to pick up injuries by not doing-- and it may never happen --drawing out like i suggested ---

but then we might actually see a bit of give and take from racers or maybe not---

but it would be interesting to say the least might be even a bit of good will -

-amongst us --

instead of being told what to do ------

asking might produce some shock results from those that you least expect it from --

with a little more give and take --from all--
