I just want to check that I am dealing with this correctly.
Tess has a low production of tear drops, which makes her more inclined to get conjunctivitis. She gets is very rarely now she's grown up, but seems to always get it when we get a new dog (maybe different bugs coming into the house or something). Anyway suffice to say she's got it, very mildly, but it does look uncomfortable.
In the past I always used to take her to the vets and get the gel to put in her eyes, but this makes them look even more uncomfortable and it still takes ages to clear up.
This time she has also passed it on to Josephine and I am slightly concerned that the pup might get it.
I read somewhere (I'm sure is was on here, but my search didn't show anything up) that tea was a good solution to it. And I discussed this with the vet when Esme had her second injection, she thought as long as there wasn't an underlying cause such as an abcess (and looking back at Tess's records she agreed with me over the cause) tea is just as good as the expensive and uncomfortable gel. We discuss how to apply it and she said soak a cotton wool ball in the tea and then gently wipe the eye.
What I didn't ask was
1. is there any point in doing the others in a hope of preventing it
2. Do you think I should be getting the tea actually in the eye
3. How strong do you think the tea should be.
THank you for reading this and for you replies which I know will be helpful
