The Slovenia girl was first , cant remember who was 2nd :( maybe Latvia ,but the boy from Monaco was third . .

I must admit I hadnt picked neither of them , so they probably did a good job, as the aim surely, is to notice the dog not the handler ;)

My `charges` were excellent ,esp the the girl from Finland who handled a very difficult GSP in the second round .

Whipowil ,Kimmie did an excellent job with a strong Pointer , she didnt let her country down :teehee: .If she`d have asked for a whippet she would have got one fo mine . It must have been quite daunting for her, being first in the ring each time too .

Thanks for all the comments :huggles:

After watching Junior Handlers at Crufts i am amazed at how BIG it is. My daughter who is 8 next month has asked if she can do it. She is usually shy and i told her we would see, but at shows she comes out of her shell! I end up losing her to someone with lots of fluffy things to groom, and then she helps them in the ring by passing them the next dog for the next class etc.

She has been paying particular attention to Crufts on TV and seems to show enthusiasm for showing, which is part of the reason for wanting a nice little bitch for her to start with. As a birthday present i have enrolled her on a Junior Handling Course and got her YKC membership.

There are some good junior handlers around and its great that it can be a family hobby!

:) It's one of those things that if your child really gets into it, then it can take over your life. I speak from experience as Karolynne (who's now 25 and got 2 boys) was in the big ring in 1992 as the hound group winner of the YKC stakes (in those days it was called the KCJO). Seeing the youngsters in the ring again this year, brought a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye.

Only advice I would give is to treat it as FUN and not get too serious and Jax is quite right, the object of handling is that the handler is invisible, so she's spot on there.

Junior Handling is good but it is a lot tougher now than when I was doing it, it was a bit of fun then but now a lot of handlers (not all) are just there to win. Plenty of practice and a good ringcraft that does Junior Handling is really a must.

Oh yes . and they have qualified from many shows to be able to represent their country at Crufts . The Polish boy had Pugs and beagles ( I asked why he wanted a whippet and he said `cos they are easy  ) , The Swiss girl has whippets and the Finnish girl has Norwegian Buhunds .

If youd seen them you would see that they are well experianced at handling different breeds , , some of the handleing at our shows ( by adults) leaves alot to be desired . Some dogs really arnt shown to their best advantage ;)

Here are a few pics from Sunday . First ,Montee and his handler Tanja

Mikkee and Nicole , and with the Swedish girl too

and Mollee with Przemyslaw ( havnt a clue how to pronounce his name 8) )

 well done whippies - all those strange folk and noise and the Big Ring too. Wish I'd been there to see it all but by Sunday my girl was snoring in the car on the way home

Whippies are such wonderful ambassadors
