Yesterday I took Mollee ,Montee and Mickee to Crufts to be used for the International Junior Handling Final , Obviously they cant all bring their own dogs with them and relay on peps to lend them dogs .

To say i was proud of my `babies` is an under statement . They were so good .

We got there at 8.30 am and the handlers came about 9 ish to get to know their charges , Montee was handled by a young Finnish girl called Tanja Pihlaja ( 16) .Mollee by a Polish boy Przemyslaw Walczak ( 14) and Mikkee by a Swiss girl Nicole Lauper ( 17). To begin with the dogs were a little apprehensive as you would expect and with all dogs , handlers and public milling about , But once in the ring they were quite settled , Ok so they did look around to see if they could see or `smell ` me but luckily none did :- "

They were in the ring for over 2 hours  and kept on their toes and in position for most of it , No relaxing in the ring like we do  , The handlers were judged by a Portugese gentleman Mr Luis Teizeira , once he had seen all handlers they then went back into the collecting ring and swopped dogs  So then my dogs had new handlers that they had never seen before , Some of the handlers had never shown a Whippet so I gave them a few hints o:)

By now it was 6 pm and time for home , what a great day we had , Heres one or 2 pics of my `handlers ` and my friend Jake who came with me .

Oh and I got to meet Quinteance too , many thanks for that lovely gift you gave my friend ........, Jenny . it was good to meet at last

You cant imagine how proud I was to see them go round the ring compeltly relaxed and happy , All the handlers certainly know their job and did so well too .

They then all came back out and took in the `original `dogs , Now they were shortlisted . I was so nervous youd have thought they were my kids  , any how Montees handler Tanja was shortlisted  but that was as far as she got :( .

Lots of photos were taken of the winners and I collected Mikkee and Mollee and i thought they might have been a tad tired but as soon as they got together in the ring they were playing like puppies ( Mollee is 8 ) .I then took them all outside for a walk and then they slept on their benches until it was time for the parade in the Best in Show Ring !

How many peps can say they have had 3 of their dogs in the Best in Show ring at Crufts at the same time  .

I couldnt get in to see them properley :( but watched them on the `big screen ` as they moved so confidentley round the ring , the noise was quite deafening too .

Whist we were packing up to come home one of the top hound and whippet people of the world Bo Bengstn came over to compliment me on my Whippets , Now that made my day complete ( just wished one of `my kids ` had won

`The handlers ` and in the other is the Polish boys dad and my friend Jake

Well done Jax.......The whips did very well, It must be hard work for them, and even harder with you not around and that odd environment!

We were benched round the side of the Special Events Ring . Shame, I didnt know you were going yesterday :(

OMG I went round the benches at one point by the Special Events ring and it was so packed (w00t) I felt really sorry for some of the dogs and owners there as they were being overrun with people queueing up to get in to to watch! :sweating:

Hope you weren't in too vulnerable a place -I expect the fact that the dogs were kept busy was a good thing.

wow!bo bengston congratulated you. (w00t) hes had some of the best whippets in the world! not much about them he doesnt know.in the states hes a very well known judge too.thats praise indeed

This is a lovely story Jax - I am so pleased and happy for you and your dogs and their handler friends.

I think of the many wonderful things our whippets do, the junior handler ring is one of the most testing of temperaments. At Crufts in that noisy environment, with handlers they don't know and for that amount of time - gosh, they have REALLY done well and you deserve to be extremely proud.

A positive comment from Bo Bengston goes a long way too I might add.

My Otto has never been a show dog of any renown, and now often stays home on the couch whilst the others go off to shows - but when he was showing and even now when he comes along for the ride he is very much in demand as a junior handler's dog. And I have lost count of the times he has helped his handler friends to win or place in a class and it gives me great joy to see him 'do his stuff' with the kids. It definitely is a 'proud mummy' kind of feeling.

Big hugs to your three from me!

What all the people were queueing to watch was the agility and then the International Junior handling ;) ,so me and my dogs were all away from the crowds in the ring ( I was sitting in the stands ) If I know you were their you could have sat with us .

Yes Lana , Bo s` comment made my day :b , I asked him if he remembered me ,as he gave Badger open dog many years ago and in his critic he said that he deserved to be a Champion . :(

Lovely pictures Jax, I specially like the one of Nicole and Millee. On Saturday we were talking to the girl who won YKC Groomer of the Year with her Bichon. She was so young but very talented and a very nice girl as well. Her mum was very proud of her and rightly so.

It was lovely to meet you and Jake, I also met Zephyr and Janfiers from K9, I just can't get over this feeling when I meet fellow K9'ers that I've known them for ages and is't so natural to immediately start chatting.

:) Great story & pictures Jax.

When I started to read the first post I was hoping that one of your handlers would have been the young girl from Oz (better known as Kimmie). I have known her and her family for many years. She was a third generation dog showee. With her grandparents coming to Oz from the UK where I believe they showed Collies or something.

Anyway never mind, your guys did you proud.

Lovely pics Jax.

Do you happen to know the final results? I realise it would have been hectic and with big crowds difficult to see what was going on.
