Why does Crufts contract so many "local" judges ?? 8)

I can see no reason that Crufts is nothing but another ordinary dog show. Lets face it, the same judge that does Crufts also does the local Ag. show too. :- "

Thanks Jax :huggles:
I wonder when Dennis Meakin (Oakbark) will be asked. It's not right that someone with his experience should have NEVER been asked to officiate.

GailK

How most of us `whippet `people agree with you , but unfortunatley some of us ( I think) know the reason that Dennis and his family have never been invited to judge at Crufts    , as all 3 of them have given CC s in the past

 What is the reason may I ask????

Dennis queried the judging of a judge who is married to someone in a very high place   .

The person concernd implied that when Dennis had made as many ch and won as many CCs as they had they could comment , obviously not realising just how many Chs and CC s Dennis had won ,

The person so obviously thought they knew it all . The bitch Dennis queried was made up soon after o:)

As in most things `its WHO you know , not WHAT you know

Moderator's hat on here - can we leave it at this and not ask for or give any more specifics. It's already treading the line of libel etc (yes I know even if it's truth).

Thanks guys!!

Wendy

Ive no intention of giving any more specifics. It all happened long before most of you were in Whippets anyway :- " and some of the guesses people have been pm ing me with have been way off target ,( and making me laugh :D but `Mums` the word Wendy :huggles:

Thanks Jax. Hey guys by all means discuss it privately :p ! It's just what's public on the board we need to be careful about :D

We prefer OUR judges .

When we have so many British breed specialist who would love the honour ( and at the end of the day whatever we say about Crufts , its still an honour) to be asked to judge at the most famous and BIGGEST dog show in the world . I would say IMO it is the highest accodlade as a judge you can have

The fact that they could also judge at a local Ag , show the folowing week means that should you get the honour to judge at Crufts youre not too `grand ` to judge any where else ( maybe even Auss one day )  but one would really have to think hard about accepting such an appointment would`nt one :clown:

although im not in whippets even i have heard of denis meakin and the oakbark whippets so theyre famous not just inside whippet circles.if i had a choice between judging at crufts and breeding some fabulous dogs that everyone remembers and talks about then i know which id choose. after all its in books on the breed, pedigrees, and the written and spoken history of the breed that his dogs will live on,not that he judged/didnt judge crufts.his dogs records speak for themselves.i hope he does get asked to judge there after all hes well qualified to know a good dog,and tbh some of the judges ive seen judge there i couldnt say that for all of them! id much rather show under someone whose opinions i value cos theyve done the breeding and showing bit and proved they know what theyre talking about. ;)

Yes, 100%.

But I will also say, "no comment".

Personally i think that the breed council should nominate judges who they think are 'worthy' or should be asked to judge Crufts.

Not left up to the Clarges Street Special Circle, (my name struck of the bottom of the laddder) :

Surely they cud send in a CV with the whys and the great acheivements the nominees have acheived.

Just my opinion :huggles:

Now a suggestion that makes sense. Surely the KC wouldn't be willing to listen to 'reason' would they.... :- " :teehee:

Hehehehehe.......that's all right for you. At least you are on the ladder (w00t)

What about some other breeders/judges, in other parts of the World that have also put in 30-40+ years of custodian of the breed? :teehee:

But this is why the A2 Judges list exists!!! Especially these days, you have to have worked your way through the breed clubs' lists and then been sanctioned by the Breed Council before the KC will put you on the A2 list (those who award CCs in the breed)

NO NEVER

I wouldn't expect anyone from an A2 list to officiate at Crufts. They don't have the 'experience' of awarding CC's in the breed.

Personally I feel that the selection of the judges should be primarily UK based as it is a British show that has only recently become open to non-UK exhibits. There are many judges in this country who have judged for many years and NOT had the privilege of judging at Crufts

just in case anyone is interested.

Group judges;

Hounds, Zola Rawson

Gundogs, Patsy Hollings

terrier, Bill Brown-Cole

Utility, Keith Nathan

Working, Stuart Mallard

Toys, Gefforey Davis

And the last group judge for 2008 is

Pastoral, Zena Thorn Andrews.

;)

 ;)
