WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE STANDARD OF BRITISH PEDIGREE DOG BREEDING ? IVE JUST WATCHED "HOUNDS" AND "TERRIERS"..... :(

HOW COME BLOODY AMERICANS DUTCH SWEDISH EVEN BLOODY STUPID AUSSIES ARE BREEDING OUR BREED TYPES BETTER THAN BRITISH.

ARE THE BRITISH JUST BREEDING FOR THE MONEY NOW.. AND LETTING THE "STANDARDS" DROP ?

ALSO HOW DEGRADING FOR DOGS TO TAKE PART IN "DOGGY SYNCHRONISED SWIMMING FOR NON-SWIMMERS"..WHATDAFUK IS ALL THAT ABOUT

NOT ONE DOG LOOKED LIKE IT WAS ENJOYING ITSELF :( EXCEPT THE ONE IN THE GREEN SHIRT AND AUBERGINE BREEKS

THE HANDLERS CLOTHES............ (w00t) (w00t) (w00t) PLEASE TELL ME ALL THOSE HANDLERS WERE REFUGEES FROM THE "EASTERN BLOCK" COUNTRIES OF EUROPE   CRIMPOLENE SLACKS....VELVETINE BLOUSONS...ZIPPER SLIPPERS......JEEEEEEEZ TAKE A TRIP TO RIVER-ISLAND FERFUXSAKE AND AT LEAST MAKE AN EFFORT  THEY LOOKED LIKE "RENT-A-CROWD" FOR TOP OF THE POPS 1973  :b (w00t)

ON A MORE SERIOUS NOTE, MY BRO MANY YEARS AGO BRED IRISH TERRIERS. VARIOUS CLASS WINNERS AT CRUFTS I MIGHT ADD, WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE BREED STANDARDS FOR THEIR TAILS ? THEY LOOK RIDICULOUS FLOPPING OVER THEIR BACKS. THE FOX, AIRDALE, WELSH ANY OTHER OF THIS TYPE HAVE KEPT THE MID-LENGTH TAIL CARRIED SIMILAR THROUGH EACH BREED...EXCEPT THE IRISH TERRIER. ANYONE KNOW WHY ?

I've just watched it too but must have missed something cos didn't see any swimming stuff  What was it??

I like the hound group cos you can't hide anything behind daft haircuts, what you see is what you get :)

Terriers.... John, do you think any of those Bedlingtons are related to my Rafferty   They don't even look like the same breed  Give me a pipe cleaner, hairy or otherwise, any day :)

What swimming.......... i never see any either

i had a friend who was a famous breeder in bassets he went to italy and came back to the uk after a number of years and he brought back some good dogs with him.he wiped the boards over here and won everything,he said to me that the brits have sat back on their laurels for too long and the rest of the world was overtaking them for quality.also i think cos some of the judging isnt up to scratch the best dogs arent getting through.ive watched the classes tonight and some fo the foreign dogs are truly fabulous.i fell in love with that basenji tonight but i thought the english bred welsh terrier was superb too.didnt see any swimmin?

:( Where was the Greyhound and Whippet, they never got to the final 8. The judge is blind

I never seen dogs swimming either :- " , I think I spent more time yelling at the tv about no whip's or greys in the final 8 to take in who won the group    (w00t)

Yes I know the bloodhound won :huggles: (w00t) , but Im wanting the Mal or Flat coat to go Sup  :D (w00t)

Only if the Italian Grey does not get to the final  :huggles:

And the women looked like rejects from 'Acorn Antiques' (w00t)

Ahhh, Do you mean Heelwork to Music.?? Some of them look like absolute idiots, dressed in Scooby Doo outfits & lion suits. But if you see Mary Ray & her dogs do this there is not a dry eye in the house. I've seen her a few times & the bond between her & her dogs is just so lovely. The dogs are happy & she also does agility with them, they are happy dogs :) I think most of the dogs doing this couldn't give a toss what their daft owners are wearing, they just enjoy performing. I've tried a bit of HTM with Hebe as she is a clever dog & loves to do stuff. Provided there is a reward at the end of it ( In Hebe's case, FOOD) then the dog is happy.

I don't think it's degrading for the dog as they dont know that the owner looks a total :clown:

No greys or whippies - the judge must be insane!! Although I did rather like the Ibizan and the Pharaoh.

julie sorry love not the "heel-work"..there was a clip of about 8 owners and dogs all together in a circle..then all doing whats best described as "the hokey-kokey". honestly every dog looked totally embarassed. "dancing boxers ?" "sambaing german-shepherds" ...COME ON FINISH THIS NONSENSE.

the next thing theyll be organising "crufts doggy dating".

let me tellya there was plenty of dogs there for that ;)

my personal disappointment was in the best-of-breed for the hounds...no saluki..no borzoi..no whippet..no greyhound  the basenji was very nice.

I was also surprised not to see a grey of whippet in the final, but got to say the Pharaoh hound was stunning, it really caught my eye.

bassets, please give me a break, i used to whip in for a pack of hunting bassets, and there is no comparision, how the hell can something with stumps for legs like shown manage to hunt in any terrian with legs and such a low undercarage as them, They are supposed to be hounds, hounds are a working breed, no matter what your feelings are on the subject, so to that end, it should still at least look like it can work even if it doesnt.

cartoon dogs js ! big draft-excluders for your door in winter  :- " exactly right what you say. those dogs couldnt cover the ground they say theyre bred for.

3 words to say on that.......and theyre said by patrick moore a lot

CASTOR & POLLOX :- "

My friend has Irish ts and the tails are long because on the foreign dogs they are not docked any more :( after April all ours will be the same. If that does ont make an endangered breed extinct it will be a miracle

I dont know very much about them just got a lift to crufts from my friend. All I know is there are so very few of them in England now it is a real problem for the breeders and the docking thing could just be the last straw :(

The group judge Dagmar pendis Pordam I think he name is is a greyhound person and I think judges whippets I got back from crufts in time to see the hound group judge and was not surprised not to see the greyhound and whippet go through.

The Best of Breed greyhound was Mistweave Manamana who I beleive was made up to be a champion at crufts I wan't at the whippet ring so I don't know the whippet that won apart from it was the dog.

My greyhound William came 5th in his class our judge didn't stick to a certain type as she placed them as was very difficult to follow her judging by type mean in one class she would place a big heavy dog then a little fine built dog she didn't go for a paticullar type. It isn't just me saying that quite a few people said the same thing

i allways thought part of the judging of any breed was that the dog looked like it was fit for the purpose it was actualt breed origanaly for. from my trip ysterday there are\ plenty of show breeds that arent anymore. i love watching the xclasses with the dogs in that acualt do somthing. there allways the best classes to watch in my opinion

very disappointed with the coverage of crufts, it is nothing like it use to be, too much talking and not enougth coverage of the groups, i remember when you saw each group(and i'm not that old (w00t) )

I always thought thats how working dogs of all breeds should also be judged, but it appears that, its how we asume they should look whether it practical and has long term effect on the dogs health, that doesnt seem to matter anymore, i think the ethos of showing has been lost somewhere, just my thoughts.
