 Help can anyone tell me what a whippet should weigh.

My boy weights 16.4kg, yes looks a little overweight but he is big with a

very deep chest.

I would like to get him down for crufts can anyone give me some advice

on what to feed him so that we can get his weight down and then maintain it.

 Jenny

Tinned Chum and white cabbage

:) Funny you should say about chum, i have always tried and tried to get weight of my bitch.

Someone told me to put her on chum, and with lots of free running its worked

She is now super slim, for the first time in ages.

Didn't know about white cabbage, how does that help?

It bulks them up and makes them feel full with out the `stodge factor` , same as carrots

Will it work for me too? (w00t) (w00t)

I have heard that pasta is meant to be good for filling them up without putting on the weight, but have never tried it myself.

I dont think pasta is very good because its made from wheat and Im not sure whippets tolerate wheat very well. Mine adore bolognes but I think its the mince and tomatoes they really like.

And as Jax says, Keep well away Becky :D

I usually put Ella on fish when im trying to get weight off her if that's any use to you.

:) Hi Jenny, i gave my bitch one small pouch a day with one very small handfull of terrier biscuit for breakfast. in the evening one handfull of proplan.

She has had lots of free running at least 1 to 2 hours per day in woods and across fields.

No extra treats, its been hard but now she does have some treats but i keep a close eye on what i give her.

Good luck hope it works for you :luck:

:x sounds horrific!!

you won't be carrying poo-bags to pick up their mess, you'll be carrying water bottles to wash it away! (w00t)

still, probably not different to the atkins or cambridge or grapefruit

size 6! wow! I could fit 3 of you in my jeans (w00t) not that I'm offering

and although I do know that dogs should be walked for miles every day, I have been lucky enough to be blessed with warm cuddley dogs who love nothing better than curling up on a sofa with their tubby, biscuit-eating mum - specially when she shares them! :- "

:luck: good luck Jenny - with the weight and crufts :luck:

Cut down a bit of his food and replace it with frozen or fresh (not tinned) green beans.
