Personaly I don't like human names for animals. I try to find descriptive names that fit their personalities.

FOXY- She was a rescue, she's shy but bossy (depending on the situation), a real hunter, and always has to have the last word. Inspired by the Austin Powers movie with Foxy Cleopatra. Attitude all the way!

Puzzle- Reg. name is Serendipity Casanova's Conundrum. He almost didn't make it as he got caught in the birth canal and had to be c-sectioned out. He wasn't breathing either and the vet thought he should have died. Puzzle was a nice sounding name and seemed to fit well.

Now we are getting ready for number three, another Longhaired, and we're trying to decide between "Fable" and "Swara" (cheetah).

I like Solitaire too . :)

Well this is funny!

I have always liked the letter J ,have a son named Jonny and when I got my first whippi I named him Jason. Then number two came and that had to be Jaymee, then the little one(who now is 1 year old) Joshua!

People sometimes ask me what number 4 will have as callingname but I say "no more"! o:) QUEA SERA SERA

Well Chelsea named herself. We got her at 12 weeks as a rescue and they called her Minnie (though I didn't know that at the time). I picked up this wee pup and looked at her and before I knew what was coming out of my mouth I said 'if she's ours her name is Chelsea'. Had never thought of it, hadn't considered the name for anything, it just came out - like she told us.

Savannah was a name we had heard on the TV - someone was choosing baby names, and we thought it was a name for a nice feminine whippet. We do believe that dogs can name themselves, so were prepared to pick her up and have her not look like a Savannah, but she did and that stayed.

Teya (originally Telyn) got her name from a website. We got to choose her registered name so chose Caoilinn (celtic meaning 'slender and comely'). We intended to call her the same as a call name, but spell it Keelin, but we knew we'd end up shortning it to Kia and there is already a Kia whippet, so we trawled through the site to see what names we could find. We liked Telyn (which means 'harp' and believe me she can sing like a harp - she is at the moment) and then shortened it pretty much right away to Teya. We call her 'Teya-telyn' most of the time when we're talking to her.

We actually spent about a week trying to decide between Keelin and Telyn and swapped about calling her both (since they sounded similar enough we knew it wouldn't confuse her) until the right one stuck.

Here's the website we used http://www.20000-names.com/
