I have started to get into some pet portrait photography. Just spent a fortune on some studio lights (don't tell the missus :- " ) and have been experimenting photographing my own dogs. I would apreciate any comments (good or otherwise) on what you think of them. I would love the oppportunity to photograph anyones pets if anyone was thinking of having thier loved ones hung on a wall (not sure if that came out right  , pets that is, ..not husbands/wifes, ..as in photo's, not rope and stuff, ... ok I'll stop now  ).

Anyway, here's the pics

oh they are so beautiful..love them all...especially the 2nd pic...stunning

Dunno why, but I cant seem to be able to view them :(

Excellent work, well worth the lights, the dogs are gorgeous

Beautiful photos as ever  . I particularly like the second one, the detail is so crisp it's like you could reach out and stroke that lovely little face  . If someone had commisioned that (or any of them) they would be really chuffed I reckon :)

I've had mine done professionally on three occasions and thoroughly enjoyed the experience and come away with some lovely pictures.

I have always admired your photographs Lloyd, and clearly your still shots are as fantastic as your racing pictures.

I think it's a case of deciding how you want to go about things, as I know lots of photographers do things differently.

When I first had mine done it was an hour sitting and I got discs with all the full sized photographs on (over 500 shots!) and could do what I wanted with them regarding printing, although the photographer did have a contact who turned the pictures into 'paintings' on canvas. I got this sitting for free as the photographer wanted to have some dogs for her portfolio. I have since been back and the same package cost £35

The other time was an hour again, but you paid individual prices (dependent on size) for any prints you wanted.

Have to say, I preferred the first option (w00t)

Good luck, I know you will make it a success, it will just depend on how many people are around who are obsessed enough with their dogs to go down that route!

Really great photos. I think the personality of the dogs shines through and they are full of expression, very good.

If you want to practise on some tricky hounds you can borrow mine. They see a camera and there off (w00t)

Beautiful pictures, I love the first one of Fynn :huggles:

I think they're are great...well really fabulous actually.

The only thing I could think of as advice (from a novice who has watched portraits being judged by professional photographers)....is try not to get a double catch light in the eye with the flash (one of the catchlights looks very large in one eye..is it the studio light?).

Fantastic pic's, i would love some done of Gypsy, but she seems to run a mile everytime i get the camera out

Brilliant pics as always Lloyd - but then you do have two beautiful subjects in Fynn and Archie

You could do either Lloyd - charge for a sitting, and then give them a CD of the pics, or have a free sitting, and then sell the pictures - not sure which is best. Prints on canvas are nice

Stunning photos - I really love the first one.  I can't give any advice, but wish you luck in your new venture. :luck: You certainly seem to have a talent for photography. I always enjoy seeing your racing pics.
