Excuse the shameless plug!! I am trying to start up a business selling pet portraits and as a member of this forum would love to offer you guys a special deal. My pastel portraits are already a good price at £29 plus £3.50 p&p but for any k9ers who would like a whippet or sighthound dog commissioned the price will be £25 with no p&p.

Please PM me if you are interested. It is a really good price for an original pastel on A4 paper.

Examples of my work are at www.zoegibson.com

I have a whippet and lurcher myself so hounds are obviously my favourite dogs to paint!

Thank you,

Zoe

Very nice indeed  Good luck with your paintings.

wow now you do have a talent, ive just had one of mine drawn in pastel and it cost me £90 so your price is very good indeed, how much would you charge for 4 dogs in one pic, might be tempted when fynn is fully grown.

Thank you all for your comments.

For four dogs I would say £80. Please feel free to get in touch at some point in the future!

I would need a good photo, preferably large resolution but a clear headshot with a good expression would be fine! Then it would depend how busy I am but I would do my best to get it done within a week.

Also I am happy to post a preview of the finished pastel, therefore if you are not totally happy you do not need to purchase.

Thanks for your interest :)

(w00t) wow, i thought it would take much longer than that, so would i be able to email a pic or best to print it off and send it to you?

i have the kodak photo printer that goes with my camera.

Cannot enthuse enough about Zoe's dog paintings...they are great and I am proud that my whippet, Tarka's picture is on her website.

Some of you may be interested to know that Zoe has just been asked by Jilly Cooper, the Novelist, to do her rescue greyhound, Feather!

So if you do order a painting or pastel you will have the same artist that will be

adorning Jilly's walls at home. :)

Sorry, Zoe if I have embarrassed you but that is a sister's perogative!

Err yes thanks Kate...!

Julie, it is probably easiest and quickest if you can email me the photos (email to: zoegibson@btinternet.com) We can do it by post, and of course I would return any pics to you, its just a bit slower. Entirely up to you!

Wow that's something to be proud of.

They are really lovely drawings you've done, I always liked using pastels best.

:D Hi Zoe

I've been a professional animal artist for many years now and just want to pass on my best wishes for your success in the future

Just one thing though, with all respect your prices are awfully low. When you think of the time you put into your work and the talent you bring to it you do owe it to yourself to be realistic about what you want to earn.

By all means start out by offering a low introductory offer (and I hope lots of K9'ers take you up on it  ) but don't work for pennies or you'll run yourself ragged in the process. I charge in the £100 region for one dog and when I work out my time, photography, often delivery, internet time, etc etc it often works out at less than the minimum wage. As my business advisor told me you have to remember to value yourself as well as your product! I know I'm worth the prices I charge, I have a waiting list and a healthy business and I charge a lot less than some on the internet!!! (check out google for 'animal portraits' or 'pet portraits' and you'll see what I mean about prices.)

So don't sell yourself short. But all the best - it's great fun and you'll meet some wonderful dogs.... and hopefully some nice people too ;)

Hi Zoe!

Good luck with your business, I like your art work, and like ziloot I think you should charge higher for them as they are a lot of work and special to people. I did a Canicross event this Sunday and just to get a 6x4 photo of me and my whippets running along from the official photographer the charge is £7.50+p&p!

I admire your effort in having a go, & you have a very nice clear web site.

I'm an archaeological illustrator and it is great to be in this line of work, and to use a special gift. I do draw my whippets between pots and ancient things, too!
