Hi,

I have found a dog tag I like and want to have it ordered and ready for the puppy arriving but....

What info do I put on it?

I have heard that you shouldn't put the dogs name on it, that you should put the dogs name on it, that you should put your address, that you should put just your phone number....

Would just like some advice please!

:b

I use this site

http://www.identitag.co.uk/pet_tags/index.htm

The tags are excellent and arrive within 2 days (normally next day)

I put everything on mine

Side one

Dog name (if they go missing, better that they are referred to by their own name if found)

My address including postcode

Side two

My name

My landline number

My mobile number

and I also put "Microchipped" on as well - hopefully a theft deterrent

Thanks,

We haven't decided on a name yet but if they come in two days can order one in pups first week!

that site looks real good, might have to go spend some more £££ :- "

we've got on ours my surname, my mobile, OH's mobile and on the front we put

"I AM INSURED, IF I AM BROKEN PLEASE FIX ME!"

someone said they had this on theirs and i thought it was a really good idea as if they ever managed to get lost or run away, and get injoured you should have to worry about a vet not fixing them, well thats the idea :b

also the microchip we got came with a tag to put on their collars, which says im chipped please scan me and the name of the company.

dont like the idea of having their names on things but thats just my opinion :huggles:

I use identitag too.... Its a brilliant and quick service and very local to me. Ive bought others, but am so happy with these dont think Ill buy anywhere else now...I have the thick metal octaganal shaped ones.

I have dogs name and telephone number on one side

on the other my address.

I use the site also mentioned by Jinnyfizz. As to what to put on a tag there are legal requirements. I would suggest you perhaps contact your local dog warden as to what information is required by law. :)

Legally all you have to show is your name and address. Obviously telephone numbers are a good idea, but they aren't required.

I have everything on mine - name (mine), address, telephone and mobile on one side and 'neutered, microchipped and insured' on the other.

I don't put the dog's name on, mainly because with five dogs I tend to get them all done at once (must stop changing my mobile number!) plus I like to have a couple of spares in case one gets lost or I have a temporary foster staying, so it's easier if they are all the same.
