I witnessed something today, that i will probibly never see happen again, for as long as the good LORD,let's me stay this side of eternity. It happened in ,or after the first heat of the over 23s.Colt as usual,Stormed up the field, wich was 211 yrd's of a pretty tight run up hill,to finish well in front of his nearest rival. As he rounded the bail's,i grabed him and another dog,as the owner's were still way down the field but making their way toward's the top;to pick up their dog's.When all of a sudded, from no where ,come's the biggest brute' of a lurcher that i have seen for a long time.He was on fire for a mouth full of whatever was on offer, and all fired up,with teeth knashing,he proceded to attack Colt, and the other dog that i was holding.I tried in vain to protect the 2 dog's,and the kid's who had run in to collect their dog's,when all of a sudden,i felt a mighty pain in my right hand.Unfortunately, for Colt, this was the hand that was holding him,and could'nt do so any longer,as the blood was actualy flowing at the begining.Colt then took off, down the field, looking for his protector,(John),when this brute of a 90lb frenzied maniac of a dog, came at him again, about 100 yrds down the field.Well this was where it all went ,well i dont know what way it all went, cause next thing we seen, was Colt going into the air,and flying backward's as if he'd jumped backwards, and landed on the other side of a 4n1/2 foot sheepwire fence, with 3 run of barbed wire on top.He was at one stage hanging on the top strand, and how he was'nt in urgent need of a needle and some fishing line or summit is totaly beyond me.Anyway ,blood dripping everywhere,of goes i down the field like a madman, shouting and roaring at the stupid so and so's,for letting a dog run without a muzzle, when i met poor Stormy coming up the field, doing the same.We got to where poor Colt was,and i climbed over the fence, and lifted him over to John.Thankfully he came out of it more or less only a bit shocked at the happening's,and proceded to kick ass,in the final. With this being our first show, and most of the lad's,not having a clue, what they were supposed to be doing,we did have teething problem's.Hopefully we will learn from this, especialy where muzzle's are concerned. I would like to thank all who made it a show for us,as without you,it would not have taken place.Well done to all the winner's,and a big thank's also to the looser's,cause without you, there would be no winner's.It took a lot of work, and dedication,to get that field the way it was today,as 2 week's ago,it was a mess with muck and water, and ben weed's.I feel guilty ,that i was off on my holiday's while everyone else was up to their neck's in it.This will now be an anual show, and will be a qualifier for a couple of the big one's across the water, next year.We are also in talk's with other club's from way down south,(Ireland),and hope to get them all involved in this 32 counties show run by N.D.T.L.C,where at least some of the southern counties will be in attendance. We hope you will come back to us next year, and support a worthy cause. Today we raised somewhere in the region of £700.00,(possibly more)for a very good charity, who do a lot for the work, and care of people with Cancer, and other terminal illnesses. Thankyou. ...Billy...

Rose if you're reading this,i spoke to the lad's,about youself and other's having to go home for work comitment's or other thing's,and from us we send our appoligies, and hope to maybe run the racing first next year.

billy thanks for "taking a hit" on COLTS behalf. i know you done your best to get that bstrd off him  all i can say is both dogs will never be as lucky in their lives...COLT because he somehow came away with a couple scratches and the other dog as i wouldve executed it on the spot followed by those gobshites.

the racing jacket saved his insides that day...

three cheers for ............ "RED 1"

So disapointed I didn't make it to this one; it's not to far from me. Unfortuanatley my Dad was busy so had no way of getting up there. To add insult to injury my parents called today and they've taken the kids up to Barrantop for a day out, the cheek! (w00t)

My youngest said they were a day to late, cos Archie missed the terrier racing..... :b

It would have been a fun day out for the kids, dogs (and myself!) Ah well, we'll hopefully make it next year.

Hope Colt is feeling better!

£700, that's brilliant..

Can't understand why someone would race their dog without being muzzled  A lucky escape for both dogs by the sound of it ;) Well done Billy
