Very nice, you should be working in design professionally. My cousin did a degree in textile design, but now works in a bank and hates it. :(

I guess OH and I are pretty much doing what we always dreamed of long ago, running our own design agency specialising in animation for corporate and, increasingly, music video and TV, working from home for top London-based clients, and doing a bit of the 'Good Life' on the side. Unfortunately I'm not really able to work full time as I've been ill, so I'm not finding it as fulfilling as it should be  Now we've discovere what's wrong I'm hoping to get back to it properly. :)

I own and run my own tattoo and piercing studio. It really doesn't get better than this. I enjoy meeting new people and we get all sorts in our place. Its a very interesting job. I can even take my dogs to work as they have their own area out the back. They even have their own comfy couch to lie about on.

Im very happy with the new job i've just got as it's what i've wanted for ages (being a Detective).  However, if money wasn't an object i'd just do it part time and live somewhere with a lot of land.  Maybe break and school horses and do something with dogs. :D
Hey up, a detective now eh, pleased for you i really am, thing is ive just logged on to tell k9 of my exploits this afternoon, id best not now. :- "

keith

I won't be hassling people for not wearing seatbelts anymore Keith!!!! :- " (w00t)

Don't know about my dream job, but my dream way of life would be owning a small holding. Just enough land so we could make a decent living. Possibly a livery yard or small boarding kennels where OH and me could work together.

Would be lovely to breed whippets too. Would need to do my homework first

on that one though.

The Darling buds of May sort of lifestyle, seems so idyllic.

O'h and I've always wanted to own chickens.

Most professions now seem weighted down so much by beauracracy, filling out reports, achieving targets, team building, management and profit margins. All boils down to common sense in most cases.

Hmmm, one day if my lotto numbers come up, say goodbye to the rat race and live the dream.

Perfick. :D

(w00t) not a nice experience!also its hard to get dedicated staff, and some dogs fret no matter what you do and they look like youve starved them!i think jacs idea about a dog hotel come country home is a great idea.jac you can spend your inheiritance on what you like when were gone.after all we wont be here to know what youve done with it!LOL! :- "

Oh Kris - poor you (the dog dieing) ... not nice for anyone. :( I petsit peoples animals when they are on holiday. Have 3 cats this week - and that is one of my worst fears - in case anything dreadful happens while they are away - touch wood nothing yet.

i have a friend who owns a large boarding kennels and they get it all the time. :( theyre used to it.sometimes with an old dog or a dog thats been poorly its the shock that does it.after all the poor old dog doesnt know your coming back to collect it in 7 -10 days,he thinks hes been abandoned for life! (w00t) i was going to get a p.m. done on this dog as i thought the owner will think ive done something. i put him to bed the night he arrived and he ate his food fine etc and in the morning i went in to him and tried to wake him up.it was then i realised he had passed away in the night.i felt awful. :( .to say i was shocked was an understatement.i rang the owners father whose number had been left with me just in case anything went wrong but he said well leave it cos its expensive and after all its not going to bring him back now.luckily i didnt have to tell the owner as his dad told him as soon as he arrived back in the u.k.he came down to see me and told me he was an old dog so it wasnt unexpected.i was so glad he wasnt blaming me as i felt bad enough as it was. :(

we boarded a cat once that we thought had got under our floorboards in the bedroom and we couldnt get it out. turns out the little beggar was hiding behind a chair in one of the bedrooms all the time!when the owner came home we told her we knew where her cat was...............we just couldnt get hold of her. :b so she went home and we tore all the floorboards up. after a few days of this and still not finding her,we then saw her hiding under the chair in one of the spare bedrooms. i could have cheerfully strangled that cat! o:)

I guess I'm doing my dream job really- I work for a pet food company so of course I get free food for all my dogs and cats

I get to visit breeders at home and meet and play with their dogs and of course litters of puppies!

I work at a lot of the shows so get to meet loads of people and dogs of all different breeds, as well as being able to show my own dogs without having to take the time off!

The only thing that would be better would be to win the lottery and do something like the doggy holiday park idea ( I love that idea- can I book now?!)

I would also have to do some rescue, of dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, goats etc, or a retirement home for unwanted old dogs- anybody been to the National Animal Welfare Trust near Wantage? A fantastic place, with furniture, curtains at the windows, TV and radio and central heating in all the kennels- wonderful! :huggles:

Liz and the Monellis

I think I am pretty lucky I love my job at the moment. It is stressful, frustrating but never boring and if I didnt have the dogs I would probably be out 16 hrs a day as some days I dont want to come home. What would I like to do instead, dont know really.

We are pretty close to it now - owning a small caravan park, so I'm at home with the dogs :D and can take them out for walks when I fancy, or let them run around the site when it is quiet. I just wish that my OH could give up his job too, and that I had a cleaner to do the toilet block!

I'd love to retire and turn the site into a sanctuary for rabbits and education centre for school children.

I've got my dream job. For 20 years I worked in advertising/publishing & then was made redundant. It was the kick up the bum that I needed as I was in such a rut without even realising it. After a year helping my OH set up his gardening business I got my job with the RSPCA. Now I am constantly stressed (w00t) , spend hours on the phone trying to help people to help their animals, and bring my work home with me on a regular basis (4 legged & furry). AND I LOVE IT!!!!

I can't imagine doing anything else now. And as I only work Mon - Thurs that means I can go to all the agility shows in summer without taking time off. :)

Having said that, if I win the lottery someone else can have my job tomorrow :- "

I would love to turn back the clock ,,not be in the car that afternoon and still be working on the farm. It was not the best job in the world (smelly / dirty ) , but I loved it.

Now im a full time mum / dog sitter lol, but just to get back to the farm is one thing I would love to change,,,,Even for a day or two.

Being a mum is a good job too,,,harder than the farm though lol

Doing my dream job now !!!! Running a boarding kennels and cattery in cheshire.....Boarding general holidayers and prison/police drugs/security dogs....Have shovel hands and less sleep than i used to and is definately a 24/7/365 day a year job, but love it. Something different happens everyday and at least one (if not all) dogs make me laugh at some point! Unfortunately don't own the place but ideally will do at some point, after running the place for 2 years feel experienced enough!. Also breed german shepherds as and when and can supply studs of all varieties, so if anyone needs a stud dog please let me know and I am sure I can be of some assistance, if not point you in the right direction!

hiya, whereabouts in cheshire areyou?is it widnes?if so i think i know the owners of the kennels where you work.i mean the ones who were going to new zealand,so i guess its been sold now? :)

I'd love to run "Fawlty Towers" ! It would be my dream job, and your nightmare.

OH nothing like Sybil tho' Phew :- "
