Was due to go and see a blue pup this w/e but just been offered a job and although it's not fulltime it's for more hours than originally intended :b

I'm really pleased about the job as it's a difficult area to break into, but the extra hours means that now isn't the right time to get an addition to the family :( :(

Should be able to cut the hours April/May next year so if anyone has any plans for litters around then PLEEEAASSE let me know!

In the meantime I shall continue to love and adore my two gorgeous non-whippet girls  :huggles:  [and my lovely husband :* ] who put a smile on my face every day.

Well done for making the right decision. When the right time comes - you will know and it will be much fairer on a new addition. Good luck. :luck:

Congrats on your job Bunty, what a shame the hours don't fit in with a new whippet though - you have definitely made the right decision. Lets hope that your hours do change next year and then the dream can become reality.

Thanks for that Jools,

It's not really that the hours won't fit in- I'm sure others cope with pups and jobs- but I'd just feel happier being able to give her as much attention as possible especially in the first few weeks. The job starts just as we were due to get her and I think I'm going to have to do a fair bit of studying  so it's probably best that I wait until things are a bit more settled.

Until then I'll continue to read the posts and look at all the gorgeous photos with great envy...

Might have to post a pic of my two girls just to make myself feel better..SOB SOB!!

Well done for making a brave descision. Now you can look forward to the spring and a new puppy. The spring is the best time for one anyway- you can spend all your spare time in the garden together.

Do post some pics of your girls- we'd love to see them

You sound a very sensible person, not letting your heart rule your head.

It's so easy to minimize any worries that you may have when your so happy at the prospect of taking on a puppy.

Well done you for being realistic about your situation.

Hopefully you can look forward to getting a pup next spring when your working hours are reduced. :luck:

 Congratulations on your job too.

Here are my two lovely ladies- Ellie Girl and Ruby Tuesday.

Ellie is lab/collie x and Ruby is a cocker spaniel [with a very waggy tail] and I love them both to bits! Sorry if images are a bit small but I haven't mastered the technology very well yet.

Yes, I'm in much the same boat. I'd been desperately hoping to get a pup from my dog's sister, who had a litter in July, but the timing was wrong. Going into the winter with a new pup, with my father in and out of hospital really didn't seem like a good idea. I have now booked one from a litter due in the Spring, and I'm going to stick with this assuming the litter is large enough and nothing apocalyptic happens in the interim. It's very difficult though, especially with people posting puppy pics here every day, you really do need a will of iron to sustain the continuing torture

All the best,

Elizabeth
