I feel sorry for the poor Junior bitch exhibitors who were told he was breaking for lunch after puppy and then discovered the judge changed his mind and broke after Junior instead . :rant: 6 exhibitors missed their class thinking they would be judged AFTER lunch , only to find out that he done their class

Luckily :blink: I wasnt one of them ( not that it would have made much differance today :- " :lol: )

One or two of our `top winners `this year were unplaced :wacko: ( and Im NOT including me in this list )and a dog he had previously given a reserve CC too went home cardless . but thats dog judging for you , isnt it :wacko:

I suppose I will be in trouble for pointing those facts out :- " ,

I heard the Ring Steward going round say Keith was breaking AFTER Junior bitch so where the message about after Puppy came from I cannot say but it wasn't from the stewards.

As we had decided not to enter - the time of lunch was immaterial to us.

As you say a few, who have done well earlier in the year, were out of the cards this time. That is the show world for you. It is the Judges opinion ON THE DAY that counts and it does depend on what the judge wants to find in a whippet. I am sure many of the dogs winning cards today may be out of luck tomorrow as the judges thoughts will be different. I am sure you appreciate that a dog can change substantially over the years and a dog that was very nice as a puppy / yearling may not develop into an equally nice adult.

I have no problem with any judge as long as they give every exhibit an equal opportunity to give of their best. Some judges (not today's) appear to have decided as soon as you enter the ring whether you are worth considering or not - if not then all you get is a nominal 'tap on the back' when on the table and whilst moving the judge is looking elsewhere.

I think a good line-up of dogs, where it can be seen that the qualities of the dogs are all very similar, tells a lot about a judge - although this can vary depending upon how many dogs are entered.

Not bad what you can do with an old guy is it? Congratulations from Canada where we own Glen's great grandson Laddie, Dumond Aladdin's Magic, sired by . Nevedith Hfa Hanky Panky, a grandson via Mom Nevedith Xfa Xanthia) -- is points away from his Cdn.Ch. title. Wonderful what those old geezers can do, isn't it, especially when they clearly remember that movement is 90% of what makes a whippet a really good whippet.
