I was taking William and Zoe for a walk tonight when I saw an old man lying in the path in front of me. Although I had 2 dogs with me I went to help him up.It was only as I helped him that I realised it was the local drunk. I haven't seen him since the summer so assumed he was no longer with us .I helped him any way to a nearby bench and what does he do to repay me

HE FALLS ON TOP OF WILLIAM

Fortunately William is ok he didn't yelp or cry in any way but he spent the rest of the walk shying away from people we saw. He'll be ok once he's calmed down again.

I had a  at the man and told him he'd hurt my dog and to get himself on the bench and think about it and stay there until he had sorted himself out. We had to walk past him again on the way back and he sat there and gave me a funny look .I just carried on and ignored him.

And what of Zoe ? She just bounced about all over the place and at one point landed on top of him. Thats what you get for lying on the floor in front of Zoe. I was trying to sort out William before he got loose

Call me callous if you must but I know for a fact if I ever see him like that again I shall step over him and carry on my way

bless poor willie he is so sweet and kind too!

Good on you for helping him but bearing in mind what happened I don't blame you for not doing it again. He's probably happier horizontal anyway :(

I remember years ago when Hebe was only about 12 months old, there was a man lying on the floor on the park, I wandered over thinking he was hurt & as I got closer I could hear him singing/muttering to himself. I realised he was drunk & had decided to give him a wide berth but what does Hebe do but charge up to him barking & howling & jumped all over him....he was flat on his back on the ground...fair game

He started singing even louder & instead of me being able to avoid him I ended up having to go right up to him & drag Hebe away, she was having a great time.

I hope poor William is o.k. after his ordeal

Next time yopu see him lying there let William go for a wee on him. :- "

Well done to William for not trying to defend himself by biting the man

I don't think it would be in Wiliam's nature to have bitten the man his reaction was to run which is why Zoe managed to jump all over him as I was trying to stop William getting loose as I knew he would have just bolted and we were on a main road at the time
