Awww  always think the little dark ones are even cuter than the yellow ones...

What colour was dad? It's like having a litter of whippet pups ......... all different markings

.......... and, may I just be a bit curious and ask why you have marbles in their water bowl - is it to weight it down? Just being nosey!!!

would have to get him a new home if one of the chicks turn out to be a male

i suppose 'black' is a dominent gene

marbles...as i havent raised chicks before :) , i read that you put a shallow dish...in my case a coffee lid, filled with water and place marbles in so the chicks dont get wet and can quite easily drown as they are so tiny and to weigh it down...they drink in between the marbles but soon be replace with a proper water/feeder

my broody hen is likely to become broody quite often so im sure they'l be more chicks in the future...so have you decided that you want some bantams..i'll put you on my list :-

Well that would be lovely!!! Thank you.

I like the black ones best

The marbles thing makes sense ......... I never thought about the wee chicks drowning!

You learn something new every day :D Thanks!
