I had a lovely time in Edinburgh last weekend (thanks for helping me to make my mind up where to spend my birthday).

Here are a few photos....they were taken in a bit of a rush, as there was so much to see (we only stayed one night!).

Our hotel was in the quietest part of town (not!)..Princes Street, and look what was in town (w00t)

Still, at least we had good views of the castle...

Talking of the castle...it could be seen from all around town...

The views from the castle itself were wonderful...Arthur's Seat in the background:

I wasn't the only one that liked the views!

I was smiling then as I scrolled down because I knew Greyfriar's Bobby was due an appearance! Dated a dentist years back who took me for a weekend away there, he wanted to see the shops and the student bars, I wanted to see Bobby, needless to say the dentist got flung!

Oh Lovely pictures !!! I know Edinburgh quite well as I lived about 8 miles outside of Glasgow for a few years. Lovely to see it again !!! :)

Great pictures Nicola, you have inspired me to get up there

You could sell those shots as postcards, they are really good pics. It looks like you had great weather too, just look at that blue sky.

And a belated Happy Birthday too :D

Friar's Bobby :huggles: I made a beeline for this monument as you can imagine :- :b  Jacs, your story about the dentist made me chuckle :p

I'm chuffed my lighting effects with the fairground were noted :teehee: ...I did try quite hard with those ones, although I still couldn't get the camera level

I'm glad it brought back memories for some and has inspired others to go. Definitely well worth a visit

Here's an (in)famous building in Edinburgh that probably wouldn't make a postcard scene :- "

I think that building is beautiful.. Maybe I am ignorant but what building is it?

Pauline

Do you like it? I wasn't so sure  ......it's the new Scottish Parliament building. It's won a major architectural award and was designed by a Spanish architect, now deceased.

Thanks Nicola...afraid I was showing my ignorance. Of course I have heard of the building just didn't know what it looked like. Well I like it, I think you can see a modern Spanish influence.

Cheers

Pauline
