Dawn xxxxxxxx

That's so kind, Dawn :) Thank you for thinking of us  We'll deffo catch up in the New Year :D Luckily my husband is on holiday now and between us we've become 24 hour carers, taking it in shifts  :sweating:

We've been back to the vet again this morning and I finally go to see Mark, the main man (whom I trust to do the right thing). He took the stitches out because they were doing nothing but irritating poor Ella and discovered that one of the 'dissolvable' stitches which had been used to tie off the vein hadn't dissolved and was sticking out of the wound. This must have been sooooooo painful and irritating

Mark has cut away most of this stitch and left the wound with nothing on it now as the thought of re-stitching is out of the question for me and Ella now  So she now has a gaping hole which will take ages to heal :(

I'll get some of the active manuka honey ASAP - but it won't come now til after christmas so wonder if that's too late????

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and support :D It's really appreciated :huggles:

Here's a pic of Ella in her full leg bandage last Tuesday - I added the turquoise sling to stop her biting at the top of the bandage.

Oh poor Ella, what a time she has had !! :( Love her expression in the photo - really makes you want to pick her up and cuddle her  Hope she is feeling better soon, you would be surprised how quickly these things can heal. By the way if you cant get hold of the honey, what about Aloe Vera Propolis Cream? That is also excellent. I have used it on large wounds on my horses before now with much better results than antibiotics creams.

 Luckily the Honeydoctor.com who supplies the Manuka honey is only 40 odd miles away from me so I'm off to get some tomorrow (w00t) ..... we've decided to cancel Christmas this year as we haven't had a chance to get anything sorted out with Ella being poorly. But she is FAR more important than presents and food so we're quite happy about it :D  .... anyway, we've spent our present money on the vet bill (w00t)

I've used Wonder Gel (an aloe vera based product) on me and the horses in the past so I've got that at the ready as well

Awwwwwwwwww bless her little cotton socks, yes we must catch up in the New Year

Lots of hugs to Ella :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

OMG,i've only just seen this.....Poor Ella & poor you :huggles:

I know what i'd like to do to those stupid young vets

I'm sure the mauka will work really well, but you can also use lavender oil,it's very soothing & will also help to stop Ella worrying at the wound
