This may sound stupid but on a weekend I like to walk Dennis somewhere he doesn't usually go on a normal weekday walk. This hasn't happened this weekend and I feel guilty about it!

Does anyone else do this?

yes but you shouldnt feel guilty at least hes had a walk...

I'd love to, but due to our situation (work and so on), Jimmy does the same very brisk early morning route with me, then a midday walk with my wife which usually goes around some local streets - he tends to choose where he goes here - and then we have a choice of about three routes in the early evening, followed by a quick walk up the garden and street for a pre-bed wee. Occasionally we'll take him further afield at the weekend, but generally this is weather dependent. He stills gets his three walks a day though, whatever the weather. So yes, I'd like to take him somewhere new, but I don't feel guilty about it and neither should you in your situation. I'd feel guilty if he didn't get his walks, as @Violet Turner says.

Thanks @arealhuman - The boy does have a life of luxury! Jimmy sounds like he does to with his 3 walks ;)

We have a few standard walks... but over the years we've explored a few detours and hidden paths and before we know it, the longer 'scenic route' has become the new standard walk. Then we explore another path...

So now, if I'm limited for time and try to persuade Jasper that we should take what has now effectively become a short cut, he looks at me so sadly and I'm guilt-tripped into going the longer route after all. Or if I do insist, I feel like I've fobbed him off and not given him the 'proper' walk to which he thinks he's entitled.

Still, it keeps us both fit:)

How do they manage to guilt trip us so easily!? I'm a sucker for Dennis brown eyes staring at me - before I know it he's had half of my dinner! :D

We try and do different walks at the weekend too - mainly because I have zero sense of direction and I'd get lost without my partner as a navigator! I wouldn't feel guilty though if we had to repeat a week day walk- as others have said a familiar walk is better than no walk at all and dogs enjoy seeing what new smells have appeared since the last time they passed that way
