just seems really stupid in this day and age - some laws, rules and regulations, ..... we cannot even put a sticking plaster or bite cream onto kids at the farm, or schools for that matter.....Mark Roberts said:exactly who has the right to make that decission.but who am i to determine if they are an anti-social stupid bloody thing anyway

i agree, but its also what people do with the fireworks with animals and other people :rant:veronyc said:Dittodaledogs said:I THINK THAT FIREWORKS SHOULD BE BANNED FROM BUYING IN SHOPS TO THE PUBLIC.THEY SHOULD BE SOLD ONLY TO PUBLIC EVENTS WITH A LICENSE.DO YOU AGREE?IT WOULD BE FAR MORE SAFER AND NO HOLIGANS WOULD BE ABLE TO GET HOLD OF THEM AND DO STUPID AND CRUEL THINGS TO PEOPLE AND ANIMALS.
But for the fact it scares animals, animals are scared by other noises like thunder and lightenings for example and there is not much you can do about that!
Gelert didn't mind thunderstorms at all until he had a bad experience with fireworks last year; having a particularly bad experience with excessive firework noise seems to have triggered off a greater sensitivityveronyc said:But for the fact it scares animals, animals are scared by other noises like thunder and lightenings for example and there is not much you can do about that!
I support a ban except for public displays and I also have the local place the public display is held pretty much in my back garden. The difference is I would KNOW when they were so could prepare my animals for that one or two days that it's happening as opposed to the war zone that's been going on for WEEKS. I have a dog who's been on meds for 3 weeks now. if it was only the two weekends around the 5th, and nothing available to the public then I could go on with life as normal for the most part, have her medicated at the weekends and stay home then.LasVegasNo1 said:I wouldn't want to see them banned. Why must a ban be slapped on everything these days?? We have a public display at the foot of our garden every year so you can imagine the noise and size of the fireworks we have to endure, plus the noise of the people! If fireworks where limited to public displays only, how would it help people in our situation or is it a case of it's alright as long as it's NIMBY??
