 fireworks are going off just now sounds like a warzone outside our door, clyde, lucy and tank dot care about the noise poor bonnie as going crazy, we cut the end off a sock and put cotton wool in her ears and put the sock over her head now she cant hear anything and is sleeping like a baby. will be glad when all the fireworks are finished.

I think it's about time they were banned!!!! BLOODY THINGS..........

all ours are fast asleep just now, and there are fireworks going off everywhere. If they are on their own they don't like listening to them, but in our company they must feel safe. It's never just 1 night it goes on for weeks!!!! then we'll have to put up with them again Xmas time..... Ban them that's what I say!

I got the tablets from the vet for Robbie. I gave him his 1 1/2 yesterday at 4.30pm and by 7pm I was on the phone to the vet  ,,,he was panting and shaking, but very wobbly on his feet. I was told to give him another 1. This did work, but took to 9pm to kick in. At 3.30pm today I gave him 2 1/2 tablets, the fireworks started about 1 hour ago, but just half and hour ago he was panting and shaking so I put him in the cage with wee Tam. Some bloody loud ones are going off just now and he is now shaking again    .

Why do they need to be so bloody LOUD

Thanks mtotos! Rosie the greyhound is drugged and asleep in her cage but I forgot the cotton wool! That might stop her opening her eyes on the big bangs.

We have a night ahead where our windows will shake with the bangs. I hinted to the neighbours that I nearly called the police last year, but I don't suppose they got the message.

why do they cellebrate guy fawkes anyway?surley he was a terrarist trying to blow up the houses of parliament?do we cellebrate 7/11?i dont think so.ban all fireworks thats what i say. my dogs are in with me got music on and evrything else on too, hopefully they"ll have none left soon.

There is a huge fireworks display in the next village, where there is a greyhound kennel. The poor sods, they always seem to be directed over them.

It' a pity all the so called do-gooders who wanted hunting etc banned cos it was cruel, don't do something to ban fireworks!

But i bet a lot of them are out there enjoying their bloody fireworks without a thought for all the wildlife that will fry in their bonfires,or die of fright, never mind all the many thousands of pet animals that are in a state of shock!!!

Josie's all shakey and panting with her eyes popping out of her ehad. Last year she was fine :( I've put her in the crate with two duvets over it to dull the noise a bit. Good idea with the socks and the cotton wool

Lola is asleep as if nothing's going on

It's bad here too but my guys aren't bothered that much, I was worried how Dobby would be but I've just had to drag him out of the garden as he's been happily chomping on grass, completely oblivious to all the boom bangs and whizzes overhead!

Hope everyone's dogs who are upset settle down soon :luck:

I have to confess that I opened my back door an hour ago and bellowed that I hoped they were having a nice time terrorising my animals   . I am lucky that they are pretty good but they do need a wee even thou we went out at 5.30 before they started.

I feel so sorry for thoues of you with stressed out dogs all 8 of mine are fast asleep afer chompin there wat through chew sticks and having a play the only one who reacts at all to the fire works is milo and he keeps running out back to watch them wagging his tail. wish I new why mine were all ok then i mightbe abell to advice you on what to do. hope it all quiets down soon and your dog can get some rest

: no problems with mine the older ones slept through it all and the pups were to busy playing to notice

Really peeded off now  they are still going off  Monday night someone thought it great to let a whole load off not to far away from about 1-15am to 1-40am. Oh what FUN  :(

I am lucky in that mine are just oblivious, but I hope all the dogs are ok this morning that had a bad night of it :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

They were still going off here around 11.30 why anyone would want to be out in the pouring rain is beyond me

We are having the same problem as everyone else. Freddie is absolutely terrified

She was panting so hard we were worried she would have a heart attack, even a DAP and 2 Diazepam (vet prescribed) did nothing calm her.

i've had no problems with my dogs and the fireworks they just lay there as though nothing was going off. I had a few of the puppies new owners ring me concerned about how there pups would react with the fireworks. I told them to act as though everything was normal. I've found if you make a fuss about all the noise the dogs pick up on it.

When all the pups were small i made a habit of banging the food bowls when i fed the puppies, i think this may have helped. As no one wants a timid nervous puppy.

None of the pups ( as far as i know) have been frightened of the fireworks.

As for banning fireworks i think they should be contained to organised displays only and for certain days of the year. I don't agree with an outright ban as i was a child once and looked forward to going to the local bonfire night.

So was I and I loved it then too. It's a completely different kettle of fish when you've got terrified animals on your hands. I've never reacted as though there's anything to worry about, but my greyhounds are ex-racers and I have no idea what they experienced before coming to live with me. They are absolutely terrified! :( I've tried ignoring them; cuddling them; dosing them with herbal remedies; but they're still scared. :( I have now ordered a DAP Diffuser which will be a bit late for this year, but should help next time they're going off.

I've also got a very scared Oliver who will hide if he can't get on my lap. If he's on my lap, then he stops shaking and is fine. Bless him! o:)

Albie is completely oblivious to the bangs! :sweating: His only concern is that with everyone else getting cuddles he shouldn't be left out!

I would go along with that if it was properly enforced. You'd think that with all the firework related injuries at this time of year, and subsequent drain on the health service, the government would be more proactive in doing something about it. I can only assume that the revenue from fireworks is far too lucrative!

Mally!!

Was it bonfire nite last nite i did'nt notice, after a day shooting then getting home i'd forgot all about it.when teya went out she looked up to the sky and must thought oh there at it again then calmly went indoors and went to bed :D .

My personal thought,

I believe they should ban the sale of fireworks to the public and if a pub, club or a organised club wish to do displays they should have to get a permit from the council who then has the final say on who can and who can't do displays similar to a entertainment licence.
