First Walk

after long discussions we went down to the beach this morning, it was really quite only 2 other dogs that we could see for miles so perfect the car journey seemed to bother them a bit lots of shaking, but the min they put their feet down they were perfect you would never have known it was their first time. :D i took in to consideration everything everyone had said in the dog walking post, and as it was so quite we let them of the lead and i have to say im so proud and impressed by them they never went far from our feet, and came back everytime they were called :wub: :wub: we didnt go far just followed them really, and then home for a warm cuddle :huggles:

i know some of you wont agree with they way we did our first walk but can i just say, if it had just been me taking them down they would never have been let off as i would have been far to scared on my own, but im really please we decided to do it as i feel it has given me the confidence to take one at a time some place quite and let them off to work on stuff like recall and i can be pretty sure they are not going to just run for the hills :- "

just a quick question before the pics, dog talk, a jogger and another dag walker past us and commented on how lovely the girls are, but after that i wasnt to sure what to say? what do you speak about with fellow dog walkers? silly question i know but i just felt like i should make conversation but didnt know what to say :unsure:

anyway here the piccys sorry theres a few.

we started of with coats as it was a bit windy,

What lovely pics Katie - a wonderful place to walk them. I'm sure another member has posted pics of that beach before. :wacko:

They look so sweet in their little coats too. :huggles: I could pinch Star she is so beautiful

We always let our pups off the lead from the very start too and they all have excellent recall :thumbsup: so I think you had a really excellent first walk.
 
The pups look great, and obviously had a wonderful first walk out. Just keep calling them and making a fuss and touching their collars each time they come, that way when you want to put the leads back on, they will not back away from you holding their collars. :thumbsup:

Regards talking to other dog walkers - it is one of the best things about having a dog, you immediately have something in common with others - ie your dogs! so just ask them about theirs, and you're off and runninng - you will meet loads of new friends everywhere you go! :)

:sweating: i know that tracey said she lets hers of but i know that alot of people say wait till your sure :sweating: anyway im glad we did :D their coats are great all be it getting a little on the small side now but hopfully getting more soon :- " :huggles:

yeah i suppose theres always that lol, but what do you say to a jogger, "do you jog here often?" (w00t) or "JOG ON!!" :- "

That first picture of all three of you flying is great!

Lovely set of pictures - they certainly will get over their car worries if they have walks like that at the end of it :thumbsup:
 
Hi Lovely pix, I always advise people to pick a quiet spot and let and let them off when really young as they are more inclined to stay close as yours did. Doing it with two of you is perfect, they can run between you. Your little lad looks like he had a good time too. :D

What lucky pups they are to have a whole beach to play in .

I let mine off as soon as I can, but somewhere safe , and then they know its no `big deal` so dont run off .

I do think its so sad that some whippets NEVER go off lead (w00t) :(
