I got home this afternoon to find my flat totally flooded :( , the water pipes in the flat above me had broken, and the extreme force of the water pressure has dramatically flooded most of my rooms, there was even mugs in the cupboard ( head height ) that were full of water  , friends came over and helped me clear it up, and the people upstairs are getting on to the letting agent in the morning, but what do I do now ? Im frightened of using any appliances in the kitchen as the hob, toaster etc were under water, my sofas are wet etc what a nightmare end to what had been a fab day

All the water has been moped up ect, and Im definately not using electrical things that have been wet, so Im ok to stay here, but do I need to call an electrician or builder to say whats been damaged, or will my insurance company advise me on what to do ?

Thanks for the well wishes :huggles:

think you just have to get intouch with your insurance company and they will let you know what to do from there on.

This is my advice, if the flooding is as bad as you say, then personally i wouldnt be there, have you got family or friends you could go to, you need to contact your insurance company ASP, they will advise you,.

Will do, unfortunately all my paper work was ruined in the flood, but I was told they can find my details by postcode, but the office that can help me doesnt open till morning

like trish said contact your insurers, last year we had a burst from the bathroom into the kitchen at first it didnt look much, but it took 4 weeks to dry out the wall in the kitchen and the floor in the bathroom using very noisy dryers. good :luck:

What a terrible thing to come home to - my thoughts are with you - good luck with the insurers :luck:

:huggles: Poor you, we had a house fire 2 years ago and it is a nightmare as you say, paperwork not available etc. Insurance company can trace your policy from postcode and will have their own procedures. We had visit from loss adjuster very quickly then they sent a company in to clear the house, list any items damaged beyond repair then contractors sent in to do repair work, redecoration etc. I am so sorry this has happened to you, my only advice otherwise would be to be there if they send contract cleaners in, half my possessions vanished without trace, valuable items not listed etc. I made the mistake of leaving them to it and in doing so things like my canteen of cutlery which was a valuable item and couldn't possibly have been totally written off, suddenly was condemned and I only got a percentage of it's value. Still think it ended up in someone else's dining room :- "

:huggles:

Sorry to hear the news, you poor thing.Lady P. Sending lots of :huggles: :huggles: .Best wishes for a speedy dry out.
