I have been asked by Keith Conroy to let all that were concerned for Flying Rocket, after a terrible collision in the 28lb weight group final on Sunday. Keith and his family are all devastated on finding out today after an X-ray at the vets that Rocky has in fact sustained a brake in his neck. He has been treated today, and is on complete cage rest with a brace. Poor Rocky has to return to the vet in a week’s time to see what they can do for him. We would like to be the first to send our dear friends and Rocky all our love and healing thoughts.X

I am very sorry to hear about the injury to Keith Conroy’s Flying Rocket at the WCRA bend Championships at Moreton on Sunday.

Looking at the Programme it is clear that Flying Rocket is a fantastic bend dog. Coming from the Stanborough club with their bend track at Peter’s Green he obviously knew how to run and win on bend tracks. On the Championship day Flying Rocket won his Heat from the White 3 trap, beating Markamy’s Marley. In the semis from the Red 1 trap he beat RCh Constant Chimes and went into the final unbeaten. In the final, although the programme put him into the red jacket , the trap draw put him into the Blue box with A Touch of Northern Class on the inside and Constant Chimes and Faithful Venture outside.

I telephoned, after reading this thread and Keith said that it seemed although Flying Rocket was first to the bend and leading around the first bend he had his legs taken away and the result was that he somersaulted to the ground. He picked himself up to finish fourth. On Monday he seemed to be limping so was taken to a Vet at Uxbridge for X-rays. The result was a broken Cervical Vertebrae (in the neck). Keith said possibly the 3rd or 4th down from the skull he had seen the X-ray but the shock of being told that your dogs has a broken neck he did not take on board the full implications.

Flying Rocket is now subject to ‘case rest’ and has to return to the Vets next Tuesday. I’m sure we all agree to wish Keith and Flying Rocket all the best and a speedy recovery. :luck:
