So like how I found Toddy. Family decided he was too much work

I blame the people who breed and sell these poor dogs as much as the owners who loose interest.

Too many people breeding and hoping to make money. It doesn't work like that. All that happens is there are lots of 'pet' whippet pups for sale for silly prices.

There should be more restictions and contracts when puppies are sold i think stud dog owners should be more selective as well they also take the money and run .All puppies should be tattooed or micro chipped so they are traced back to the breeders who should be responsible for them, something to challenge the KC about , no chip or tattoo then no registration,... Sadly we dont live in a perfect world.

I saw this yesterday on pre-loved - bloody shame. Stupid, ignorant people.

wish I had 300 quid spare right now..reminds me of my Woody..poor little soul..people like that are the reason i'm not allowed to carry a weapon (w00t) .

Does the breeder know about this I wonder? Does anyone know the breeding?

This just makes me so Angry   "son bored of him" it drives me to despair :(

Good points about breeding/breeders been made.

If the dog was here in Australia I would call and find out who bred him, then let the breeder know. They may be interested taking him back. It is not always easy to asses potential buyers; some people know exactly what to say to get a puppy.

I have had couple of buyers who came across really well at first, and I promissed them puppy, then as we comunicated waiting for the pups to be born/old enough, they started to contradict themselves and in the end I refused to let them have the pup.

The main thing now is that this boy will get a good for ever home.

as a breeder i never sell a puppy to anyone who wants a puppy for a son or daughter as pointed out they are not toys

when i sell a puppy i always do a contract to say i will take the puppy back at anytime

i personally dont believe in microchipping 8 week old puppies
