I did something like that to the equivalent bones in my foot a while back, the tendons were stronger than the bone which gave instead. I managed this merely slipping on my decking :b so mishaps aren't always connected to running activity. Luckily my vet is a orthopaedic specialist (as well as owning whippets herself)and explained to me how this injury happens.
Apparently the tendons in the front paston are very strong, strong enough to pull the Carpus bone to peices when put under a lot of pressure, usually over stretching. Just a freak accident.
His bone is broken into four little bits, so he's wearing a pressure bandage to pull all the bits together. And it a lovely shade of Blue just like ollies and Zephers !
