Isn't Rob's question linked with a comment made by someone (perhaps Gay) at the Whippet Club AGM?  If so then he means with no white on them at all.
This no white business.  What if a baby puppy had white on it's toes and then as they got older it disappeared, say by the time the pup was 7-8 weeks old, and then became solid with no white.  Would that count as having white bits or not?

I'm never sure if Woody is solid fawn or not.  I've always thought that his paler bits are cream not white.

Our Solitaire then maybe not a solid fawn then  he has a lighter belly and is a tad lighter on his face, but it's not white, it's a lighter fawn/creamish like Woody's bits Barbara  it's just says fawn on his pedigree though.

my solid colours have all got a little bit of white on them, either a white toe or two or a bit on their chest, they also have a cute triangle of white behind their pastern, between stopper pad and foot
think i've only ever seen 1 puppy with no white on him anywhere and he was cream with a liver nose

Thats been my experience too Becky. Always a tiny bit of white somewhere if only behind the pasterns. Its not always due to colour genes though. The pigmentation cells on the embryo spread outwards from the medial line of the spine and sometimes they don't quite 'meet in the middle' so to speak so small white spots on the extremities (toes, underline of the belly etc.) can be due to incomplete spread of the pigmentation cells.

That's quite common isn't it  .......maybe it's where pigmentation cells fear to go (w00t)

Hi All

Just to clear the situation - the whippet cannot have light coloured nails, or toes. There must be no white on the tail or chest. In fact not white anywhere. I'll be at the Champs - with my camara - if you think you would be happy to let me photograph your non-white Whippet I'd be grateful.

Next question is what colour are the Sire & Dame of the Whippet and have they had any pups that are also 'complete coloured'.

Just to confuse the situation - I'm not sure if Brindle can be classified as a complete colour - but I'll check!!

Thanks again for all your help. Rob... :))

Yes, I suspect it is. I actually said that it is rare to find a whippet without even a tiny bit of white somewhere and someone else said that was because Laguna Ligonier was behind all our dogs now - which is not actually true. The Nimrodels for example had no Laguna lines until Oakbark Mane Attraction was used and there are many Nimrodels that don't have this link. It is however, hard to find show breeding that does not include Ligonier (and if anyone has it, I'd be interested to hear from them).

I'm told that this pale cream with the fawn is known as Deer Fawn - scroll down this page on Whippet Colour genetics http://bellsouthpwp.net/d/d/ddoggone/Homep...ual.html#anchor

"deer" fawn..the lighter areas on his face, neck, chest, underline, and feet are light cream...not white'

the closest i've seen to an entirly black whippet was this young chap (i know he looks like a labrador but he's a whippet, honest)
