Yesterday we had a horrific car accident near our village - three cars involved all driven by local drivers. One of the ladies was sadly killed outright and it transpires that her two year old Lhasa apso was also in the car. He suffered head injuries and was taken to our local vet. He is going through an eye opperation today so good thoughts needed for this poor lad. I had a phone call today from the ladies only surviving relative and she is unable to take the dog so the poor little chap will be looking for a new home. I have given her all the details of Lhasa apso rescue and I have promised to put the word out here that he is looking for a new home. Poor little mite, my heart aches for what he must be going through. Does anyone know if we can expect him to suffer trauma? How do dogs react to this kind of situation? I have never had any experience of this type of situation and any advise would be welcome.

Thanks

what an awful thing to happen lets hope the poor little mite recovers :luck: in situations like that i really dont know his chances but he is in the best possible place sending lots of luck to the poor little man good luck :luck: :luck:

That is so sad :( What a poor little mite :huggles: Hope he recovers well and he gets a wonderful new home :luck: :luck: Please keep us posted on his outcome. I am sure someone will snap him up. I could ask a friend of mine, who is a dog groomer if he knows anyone who might be suitable. I know he gets a lot of lhaso's and shit zu's in to be clipped. He is based in Edinburgh same as me.

Poor little soul :huggles:

:( Sorry to read this news. Poor lad. :luck: :luck: in finding him a home

Such a sad and tragic story.. :(

lets hope he recovers well and goes onto another lovely home... :luck: :luck:

How terribly sad :(

:luck: Good luck to the little chap :luck:

Oh no, how very sad. Sending lots of good thoughts to the little lad :huggles:

If all goes well at the vets is there anyone to care for him while he recovers and is looking for a home?

:( How tragic :( Are the relatives prepared to at least keep him until a permanent home is found? Or perhaps a foster home could be arranged? Hopefully some kind and caring person will offer him a permanent home really quickly. How sad for him to have lost his mommy in such a tragic way :(

Thanks for all your good wishes for this little lad. I am expecting the lady relative (a cousin) to be in touch soon. She is in a difficult situation herself. She lives about 9 hours from us in the south of England and has to come up here to see to legalities etc and is in the unenviable position of having to sort out her own dog before coming up. She has an eleven week old pup which she has only had for two weeks and who has not had his second vaccs yet. She lives on her own and when I spoke to her yesterday she was understandably distressed. I told her to contact the breeder she got the dog from as surely if they were reputable they would help out in the circumstances. Hopefully she has got something organised. Will let you know when I hear from her.

how sad :( it makes you appreciate what you have in life thats for sure :huggles:

:( How awful.

Fingers crossed everything works out for him :luck:

Hope he's ok. My friend who has a grooming parlour has been phoning around this morning to see if there is anyone that may want to take him on . Do you have any idea if he is ok with other dogs or is it a home on his own he is needing?

Thanks Kirsty, DO not have much info on the lad at the moment. He was an only dog and by all accounts very well loved and went everywhere with his lady owner. He is still in the vet's at present and they are happy to keep him meantime. He may still need another op. The vet and another local vet do know of several people who have recently lost dogs and may be interested in taking on another so fingers crossed.

One of my own dogs has to go in to the vet tomorrow so I will try and get more info then and may be able to pass on some gentle hugs to him from you all.

The cousin is now up from England but is understandably very tied up with legal things and I do not want to intrude at a time like this. Hopefully she will contact me when she feels ready.

Hopefully he has come through the op ok. The whole thing is tragic :( It's so sad that he has lost his owner and won't have her love and comfort to nurse him back to health. He must be so bewildered and traumatized after what has happened to him. I know what you mean not wanting to intrude at this sad time. Maybe the vet will be able to let you know how he is. Sending lots of :huggles: his way
