The day I have been dreading came today, and we had to say goodbye to my beautiful Musky-Bear. Sadly his back legs have been getting weaker over recent weeks, and this morning he was unable to stand or walk without help. We made the decision to let him go with dignity and he was pts at home on his own bed with David and I and our other dogs around him.
He came to us as a 13 year old 'foster' nearly two years ago, but it only took a few days (well actually a few hours in my case) before we realised he wasn't going anywhere. He was a true gentle giant, a huge character and presence in the home and at the moment I simply can't imagine what we are going to do without him.
Until the last couple of months he was doing amazingly well for a 15-year-old dog of his size, and I have wonderful memories of him this summer attempting to chase the whippety girls around the fields. He never quite caught them, but never gave up trying either
Goodbye Musky-Bear, I'm sure Molly was waiting for you at the Bridge.
Musky and Molly, my two oldies together
Last year with the gang
Charging through the buttercups
My handsome boy
