Steve & Betty Beaumont have asked me to let you know that they lost their much loved Charlie (Half A Chance) yesterday, just a couple of weeks short of his 9th birthday. He has had a problem with his neck for a while and went to the vets for a myelogram. It turned out he had a partially prolapsed disc but it seems he also had a tumour. He never properly recovered from the myelogram and very sadly had to be PTS the next day but they were him at the end.

I know that losing Charlie is especially hard for Steve and Betty as they got him soon after they lost Ronnie (WCRCh Half A Mo) and he filled a very big hole for them at a difficult time.

Charlie was bred by Angie Sawyer from Hammeron and Savernake Fallow. He made several Open and Championship finals, coming a close second at least 3 times at the Champs as I remember) and gave Steve & Betty a lot of pleasure. The photo is one I took of him after he won the Maiden Supreme down in Cornwall in 2000.

RIP Charlie.

What a horrible time for Betty and Steve. I'm so sorry that they have lost Charlie at what is still a young age for a whippet.

Hugs to them both. :huggles:

so sorry to hear this my bitch had many great races with charlie RIP

Very sad to hear about Charlie - our condolences to Steve and Betty.

Was a lovely genuine dog and our Merlin had many races with him, the most memorable would be when Charlie won the open at Newmarket by a short head to Merle (was the nearest Merle ever came to winning anything and was a great day!)

RIP Charlie

:( Oh No - so sad to hear about Charlie, I know he's been going down hill but hoped he'd pick up.
