Hello, hello, hello.

Yes, I know I've been absent for the longest time...my excuse (well, I know you want to hear it!) is that my company had a real crackdown on internet usage and it scuppered my constant K9 surfing. Don't you just hate it when work gets in the way of your private life!?

So, how are you all?

My Arnie boy is doing well. He is coping really well with his tripod status (almost a year now, where does the time go?). He runs around, jumps, chases cats/foxes etc, just like he used to. His character hasn't changed at all but he is a little slower than before (obviously!). He is fast approaching 11 (January) so I think a lot of this is just him naturally enjoying old age. He refuses walks more than he used to but still has a good play from time to time.

We have had issues with his tummy (Haemorraghic Diarrhea (sp?) and I would be interested to hear if anyone else has ever encountered this. He seems to go in bouts but with the help of Stomorgyl he bounces back fairly quickly.

So, all in all, we are well and looking forward to Christmas.

Whats going on in K9 these days? What did I miss?

Lots of love to all my friends and I hope that your babies are all well and enjoying life.

Hugs and kisses

Sarah

How nice to catch up with you and Arnie, welcome back :)

Glad to hear Arnie is doing so well :) hope his tummy problems settle down :luck:

welcome back...I would give him a teaspoon of live goats milk yoghurt on his food when he gets the HD. My lurcher Bryn has immune problems and gets upset stomach and bleeding...we usually only have to give the yoghurt for two days and he often doesn't need any vet treatment(occasionally he does if it doesn't settle after the yoghurt.

Hi There

Glad Arnie is doing so well, cannot believe he has been a tripod for nearly a year...time does fly!

You didn't miss much...other than k9 going from one of the busiest sites to one which is rather quiet!

;) glad Arnie is doing so well, June and I only wondered the other day what had happen to you (w00t)

Think I shamed her into posting Julie - getting us all worried like that! :b

Glad Arnie is doing well too. Hope his tummy settles down, it could be a side effect from one of the drugs he was on. Did he have Metacam?

Heya Sarah!! About time you made an appearance

Can't believe nearly a year has gone by since Arnie's op - time does fly

I had a quick google about HGE and found this .........

Hemorrhagic gastroenteritis (HGE) is a disease syndrome seen in dogs, characterized by the acute (sudden) onset of bloody diarrhea, usually explosive, accompanied by high packed cell volumes (red blood cells).

Causes

The true cause of HGE is unknown but there are some suspected causes.

# Endotoxic shock, or poisons produced from bacteria causing shock

# Immune mediated destruction of the intestinal lining

# Infectious agents, possibly Clostridium

Sounds like one of those things which can just happen :( so I expect it's a case of controlling the symptoms until they pass (excuse the pun :b )

Do give Arnie a big hug from all of us here in Jinnyfizzland :D

Awww thanks for the warm replies. Its so nice to see you all again and to see the lovely pictures of your babies.

Arnie has been given Salazopyrin to take as his diarrhea has been severe. He has been having episodes weekly and its getting too much for the little guy. It stresses him out and I need do take the next steps. Rather than just treat each episode the vet has suggested the Salazopyrin to see if we can control it that way. I have looked at side effects and am praying that he is okay on them. I tell ya, I worry about my little friend so much, as I know you all do with your own.

I hope that you are all looking forward to Christmas and that your little ones are all fine.

Lots of love

Sarah
