Hello All, I am new here. My name is Alison and I do voluntary fostering for an Animal Rescue.
I am currently fostering my first ever whippet, which is why I have joined this site:
a) to see if he is reported as missing (sadly I have not seen any sign of anyone looking for him)
b) to find out about whippets and their needs, likes and dislikes etc
I have fostered many lurchers over the years, but this fella is quite different - mainly because he is blind, but also because he is on the older side. I usually foster the young lively dogs!
The rescue have called this boy Willow. He came into the rescue at about half the weight of a male whippet. He has put a fair bit on now, but is still thin. I have a problem as he does not seem to ever want to eat very much.
He is extremely gentle natured and his fur is sooo soft....softer than any lurcher I have ever had. I have no idea how anyone could let a gentle fella like this get lost.
One thing that I have already learnt, and that he has in common with many lurchers, is that he loves the settee!
