Hi, I'm Jon Gould and i'm seacrching for a whippet pup. I'm living on a rural lane in Kent, surrounded by woodland and fields nearby. We have been looking for a whippet for sometime and have hit several dead ends with breeders, i was wondering if some owners could give me a hand finding breeders of these wonderful dogs nearby. hi and welcome to k9! if you keep having a look on here some litters will be on, best thing is to decide what type you would like, show, race or pet and keep an eye on the forums, dont be afraid to ask questions as a good breeder will ask you lots too! we aint a bad bunch really just a little whippet fuelled insanity! :- "

have a good read through and see who stands out as a breeder to you and make contact.

The best way is just to keep a look out if no-one has contacted you it may be just that they have no puppies available at this time also as Tanya says it may be helpful to put a bit more info about what you are looking for and how far you are prepared to travel

Some of us have been in Whippets longer than we care to remember , but we still have lots to learn about the breed even then .

Have you thought about what colour you fancy , no whippet is a bad colour.

You couldnt make a better choice of pet dog thats for sure , but then I suppose most of us on K9 are a little bias :- "

I know of a lady who has just mated her bitch , so you would expect to be waiting 9 weeks + at least 7 before your puppy would be available ,

Hi guys!

Thanks for the great response, you all seem like lovely people, committed to the love of your pets!!!

I am looking for a black or blue (but am not too fussy colour wise, they're all great!!) whippet, within about 100 miles radius of Kent (but would make excpetions!). I live down a rural lane, surrounded by woodland, and with nearby fields. I live in a quiet family of four: my wife, my two older children and me. We are a loving family that has always lived with dogs; we have two small cats, this is the reason we are looking for a puppy, because we intend on bringing the dog up with our cats, the cats are shy, but like to play. We are looking for a whippet as we believe it suits our situation at this time, and it would be purely for a companion for the family.

I hope this can help narrow down the field of breeders, please keep me informed, because the family and i are so excited about the possiblity of getting a whippet.

Welcome to K9 Jon and Amanda and good luck in your search. After getting my first Whippet in January, i soon found out that one wasn't enough, and another was added to the family in March! We've had a variety of breeds but now i wouldn't have any other than Whippets.

Both mine came from breeders that i found on this site, so im sure you will have some luck soon. )
