Hi guys Just thought I would introduce myself.I don't actually have a whippet or any other dog for that matter but we have one thing in common for definite,that being a love of sight hounds.I just love these dogs and to see them in full flight is breathtaking,full of power yet so graceful and by all accounts whippets are such a great breed to be owned by.I live just outside Glasgow but was brought up next to a greyhound track where we would sneak in and watch the racing .Great entertainment for a bunch of street urchins.Since then this type of dog has always been on my mind so I thought I would join the forum to read up on all the whippet news and find out what is going on in the world of whippets and sighthounds.I am really enjoying following all the threads and looking at the pictures.Cheers :thumbsup:

hi and welcome if you go into non ped whippets theres a thread on saying about a track in Glasgow it could be the track you live near,they having an open on you could maybe go along and get to know the owners and who knows end up with a non ped :thumbsup:

Hi, Kenny that track is Shawfield Stadium a famous old track that I visit sometimes to watch the greyhounds and to "donate" my money to the local bookies.I think i'll try and get myself along to that but I have a bit of a disability at the moment and have been off work long term.The track I lived next to was called Mount Vernon and was more what they used to call a flapping track but there would be hundreds of people there in the seventies it was very popular.Sadly the Mount is no longer there.What is the difference between ped and non ped apart from the obvious,is one type faster than the other.The two clubs close to me are spwrc and the ctpwrc I guess they only allow peds or are non-peds welcome to.

Hello and Welcome, one word of warning...these whippets can be quite addictive....lol...

I came onto K9 in 2004 looking for a puppy......I now have 4 whippets...BEWARE... :lol:

Thank you so much ...I love my blues ! Got daddy dog Mr Frodo and his two boys from last years litters .We,ve been to Crufts with daddy n going with Sonny in 2011 ! How these little dogs have changed our lives ...Is amazing .We go racing at Stirling but thats it done for the year now ...Diff venue next year .V sad really . Brill you are nearby ..If I hear of any events coming up nearby I'll let you know .We went to the Coursing meet at Holyrood last yr with Frodes..Great day out .

Do you know anything about a nice litter of puppies in the Falkirk area on preloved just now they look really cute puppies and i've checked parents ped's on whippet archives.The pedigree's seem excellent with really strong racing lines.

Hi there ...I certainly do know about em ...Frodo's sister is the mum .They came to use him and obviously I thought it not such a good idea ! The daddy is a good racing dog at our club ..Ziggy .I put the owners in touch with his owner and they got 9 lovely pups out of the mating .If you are going to take 1 though ...take a bitch .The mother is same size as Frodo and he is just under 21inch .Really big for a bitch .You dont want a big dog if you gona race .but show wise I think they may do well .Dumyat July is a lovely looking bitch .Very like my Frodo .I put her piks on the Archives .

Good luck.ha ha You could always wait for my Frodo(Dumyat April of Silkspun) n Angels(Peperone Pretty Smart) repeat litter !! ha ha Planned for Nov /Dec mating . The Spider of Silkspun was our pick of that litter (Fidget) Blue n White .All that litter turned out great.
