Take note of the date this meeting was put on here (SEP 27th), I looked at the top ten calender in septembers whippet news, and it seemed the ideal date for our club members to give their dogs a race before the championships.

Easingtons advert didn't appear until Octobers whippet news, no one forces anybody to come to Highgate, it's their own choice.

Most weekends people have a choice to go to a local club meeting or to travel to an open.

Highgate is just like any other club.

surely the people who run highgate knew there was an open on at easington on the 17th of october running 2 bend events on the same day isnt the way forward

If you look again at my post it clearly states that I didn't know, I looked in septembers edition of whippet news, and there was no advert for the Easington's bend open, this is a club bend meeting, there's other clubs that run sat & sundays.

Haven't got my WN yet but presume that the open is the travellers bend open?

This open last year attracted 31 dogs........with additional money.........there was no other open on at Highgate that day, what was the reason for the poor turnout then?

How in turn then, can you say that another open held on the same day, 118 miles away can therefore decrease the number of dogs running on the 17th?

Surely the credit crunch and peoples unwillingness to travel is more of a reason for the poor turnout rather than the fact that another WRC are having a race night and trying to find ways to fund their club and race their dogs?

Am beginning to think we sound like moaning bloody northerners all the time!!

Everyone has a choice to race where they like. I don't see why any club should have to justify what they do.

Chris.

Easington's bend open is not even advertised on the 2009 calendar dates on this forum.

possibly last year the horden travellers open was on after the bend champs with also been an additional event kept the numbers down but this year if not for highgate im sure there would of been a good turnout at easington in readiness for the champs not now though all im saying is we need to work together to make sure that people dont get fed up of running there dogs in a solo week in week out because thats the road we are takeing

I can see were your coming from, but if you'd done your home work you would have seen that Highgate wrc had a club meeting on the 18th October last year, a week before the champs, resulting in 48 dogs entering.

im not getting into the ins and out of all this all i will say is people have a choice were and when they race there dogs its just unfortunate thats sometimes race meetings class with each other.just my opinion dont shoot me.

It's getting bloody stupid, every time there's an open, people having their digs and people having to feel awkward at not supporting an event.

I can understand people running at Highgate the week before the champs, maybe getting one last run in on the champs track. You are really never going to get hoards of people turning up at Easington for an additional open the week before the champs is at a totally different track.

i can't undestand why some people want run a dog the week before the champs on either track.

if i had anything to do with easington i would cancel it and not bother again.
