Has anyone else seen the news item on page 4 of this weeks Dog World paper the headline was "Skinned dog found in park"? It states a skinned beheaded dog believed to be a whippet was found in a public park in Hampshire

I read this with shock and disbelief - what on earth could this poor mite have done to warrant such a cruel end? It absolutely sickened me! Apparently the police are investigating :angry: I should bloody well think so! :rant:

I too was upset reading that...as I am sure most people are. I worried if it is because of a whippets beautiful fine coat. Have you also read Killick's Column in the other dog paper this week. I know he is always having a rant about something but he again mentions instances where dogs have been abused or died in police kennels. And no action taken...some Animal Welfare Act !!

i read this week where a golden retriever x was shot with over 30 pellets by a youth in manchester.apparently people must have seen what was going on as the dog took ages to die. he was finished off with the barrel of the gun pushed down his throat :angry: when is the government going to take animal cruelty seriously?im sick to death of seeing things like this and nothing seems to happen to the perpetrators. :rant:

Yes - I was horrified and disgusted about the Dog World article - in fact keep thinking about it, there are some sick people out there and these incidents seem to be increasing, it's horrendous. :rant: Sue

I hadn't read about this, but in the past I have heard of dogs being deliberately skinned to use their hides and fur. Recently it was alsatian types, hair used for fur collars on coats, for toys, etc but years ago I heard of whippet skins used for purses.
