Just came across the ad below in one of those admart papers on the net.

Absolutely disgusted that the paper even allows ads like this!!! It does appear to be an old ad & the email address does not seem to be in use anymore.

However, it makes you wonder whatever became of these poor breeding bitches & their pups? :(

Yes it does i agree. I was just dumbstruck when i read it, but made it even worse whe i saw they also had whippets & affies advertised as well!

I have seen some sickening ads before, but never one as awful as this. It makes me feel ill to think of those poor dogs. Our local "Puppy farm outlet" sell most of the breeds in that list (Whippets and Affies excepted) thank God.

How can we get through to the average pet owner not to buy from these places. I saw in the local free paper yesterday that the local outlet is now offering a wider selection than ever - no doubt in time for the Christmas rush!

Has anyone any ideas on how to get across to the poor people who are conned by these places, so often these puppies are ill and die shortly after they are bought, I think some of them are just so traumatised that they can't take it. I feel sure that the majority of these people whould not buy from puppy farms if they knew the truth, but how do we get through to them?

We have them out here too. Sad part is some of them think they are saving the Earth in what they do. :x

Also a popular TV show, (Burk's Backyard), promote this kind of we are doing you a favor kind of thing.

I personally dont think it's publicised enough, how some of these poor breeding bitches are kept & used as just breeding machines, how the pups are ripped away from them way too young, i just dont think its highlighted enough.

Your average Mr & Mrs Bloggs just decide they want a pup, see an advertisement such as this & it doesn't even cross their minds most of the time where the pup has come from, how it has been reared, what conditions the mother has been kept in?

All the while these crap advertising papers keep accepting ads such as this, it keeps these puppy farmers in business, if they couldn't advertise so easily perhaps they wouldn't be able to sell so easily?

Maybe a phone call to the editor or a letter condemning this kind of advertising may be a start? Just a thought.

Does anyone have the email addy of the paper. If we all emailed and told him what we think maybe they would think again before this sort of ad in. We could cross post to other lists. The more emails they get then just maybe the more they'll think twice about running this sort of ad? What do you think? :(

Anything is worth a try. The address appears to be either: AD-MART.co.uk or WWW.ukclassifieds.co.uk

Cant do any harm if it doesn't do any good!

Nina

OMG - This is sick. :x What type of people are they. How can you look after them all properly. Poor little mites.

I am unable to say exactly what I want to about this ( I'd Be banned for abusive language)

So this will have to do   my blood is boiling. How can this be stopped?

I really dont know Claire? :(

Unfortunately all the while there is money to be made from these poor dogs & pups these people will continue.

Upsetting isn't it :(

Nina

Nina, you're right, it's disgusting!

But while there is demand for such puppies will be a supply too. :(

On Russian and Ukrainian forums breeders used to create something like black-list of such people, to let people who really want to take puppy know that usually such puppies are unhealthy, not purebred, etc.

So, I think maybe it is needed to make anti-advertisement.

P.S. here is a pic of 2 months am.staff puppy :( his "breeder"! She told his parents are super-champions and he will be too! Poor puppy. :( He has at least worms and rachitis. :(

We have here market where such puppies are offered for sale. Usually there are no or few breeders with normal and healthy pups with documents and vaccination.

I am so shocked that this kind of thing goes on .... terrrible.

I agree, this sort of thing is absolutely disgusting, and much more common than people think.

Puppy farmers are getting very clever, often selling from private homes with an unrelated bitch posing as 'mum'.

If anyone is interested or wants to try to stop others buying from puppy farms this site has a lot of information:

HOPE UK

There are some rescues, such as Many Tears in Wales, who take in ex-breeding bitches. The state of the dogs they take in is heartbreaking.

Poor little soul :(

These people just have no scruples, no conscience & definitely no hearts. Money, money, money is all they think of

I can imagine, poor little mites are just used as just breeding machines.

I know in the USA its even worse if possible, 7 IG's plus numerous other breeds were rescued from a "puppy mill" there & one poor bitch was approx aged at around 13 & had been bred from evry season & the guy who owned them had even performed his own makeshift caesarian sections, then still carried on breeding from these poor bitches. This one poor soul had to be pts as her insides were termed as just being "mush", they didn't know how she survived so long & she couldn't even stand up.

Others slightly more fortunate were missing toes & parts of ears & tails where they had been kept for years in tiny metal cages with no bedding in a stone out house & frostbite had set in & eaten awayparts of their extremeties.

Its just heartbreaking :(

My local AD mag does suggest that you see pups with mum .

So at least they are aware of what happens . But why do they accept the ads in the first place  . If these people had no where to advertise then they ( hopefully) wouldnt breed

Exactly right Jax,

but again back to the same old thing MONEY, these papers unfortunately make money in turn from these kind of people with their long running ads, so they dont give a hoot either.

Nina

this will bring me grief, i'm sure, but the people who buy from puppy farmers are usually too witless to even be trusted with a toy animal

anyone with sense who wishes to add a member to their family does some research before-hand. its like any other household purchase. you read up on various 'makes'. get feedback from other owners of the breed you want. see if that breed is compatable with your lifestyle/family etc. see if you can give a puppy the love, time, attention it deserves. likewise, a decent breeder does the same: assess the suitability of any would-be buyers. if you do your homework and choose the pup you want, a breeder who says give me the money should set off alarm bells. a caring buyer would certainly think again as to buying from such a 'person'.

i greatly admire those who help the bitches used as breeding machines, but i cant help feeling that its just cleaning up the mess puppy farmers leave behind. this is a vile trade that needs to be forced into the publics awareness. show them that for every cute bogroll advert there are hundreds of starved bitches being used to pump out pups that are highly desired as a direct result of those self same ads.

in this day and age, few things are able to shock. but shock people we must. shake them out of their deluded lack of caring for anything out of their daily lives.

You are probably right in all you say.

Unfortunately there must be a hell of a lot of witless people about to keep these Breeders in business.

Having said that i will NEVER cease to be amazed at the enguiries i get from Jo Public.

There is such a high percentage of people out there who genuinely know NOTHING about dogs & puppies even down to the most petty things, we take for granted.

I'm sure if such a person rang one of the said ADS & was fed a load of false information they would have no reason to disabeleive it!!
