I have often wondered how people decide if they are going to reply to a topic or not.

I have people i consider to be online friends and will always reply to them. Then if i

find a topic interesting/feel strongly about i will reply if i know the topic starter

or not.

Does everyone pick and choose who/what to reply to ? I think they must, maybe

without noticing they do.

And another thing......

I have noticed some people read my topic's and never reply. They then ask to be

added to my FB but never speak on there either  Why.........

Hi Annie! I'm replying too :D

I too reply on my online-friends posts...hence I'm here now :D

But other threads I tend to reply if I can help (unlikely) or give good advice (even more unlikely!!!)

...I have also put comments on if I feel strongly about a situation...although slightly more reluctant to do that these days...for obvious reasons..

But I also comment on lovely pictures, of which we are blessed with many on here :D I LOVE piccies of Whippets especially!!! and on funny stories or jokes if they have warmed my heart or made me laugh enough...

...I also only reply if my dear computer allows...sometimes it just don't wanna play!!!

Just to add...I also like to welcome new peeps, post on their early threads in the hope that they'll stick around and bring their own ideas to the forums and encourage younger members threads...if I know they're younger members lol

i always reply to my friends post and vice versa..i feel its a case for tit for tat on certain posts on here....maybe people get pissed off with seeing the same old things on here so dont bother replying...also the green eyed monster rears its ugly head sometimes doesnt it!!!

...oh and another thing...I really like it when people reply to my threads :D , so feel its only fair to make comments on other peoples, It soon becomes apparent when peole are only interested in their own threads and don't post on other peoples.

just one last point...its always fun to hijack some peoples threads and take them TOTALLY off topic :D :D :D :D :D

you never know if they are genuine or just someone with another name!!!!

The twits who rejoin under another name don't tend to introduce themselves, they just wade back in on a thread or subject which they've either had their posting rights restricted over or they wish to stir without risking their original member name...I've only been caught out once big time in this way...sad the games people play as it causes doubt about the genuine members who want to have fun, advice or to just share their little beasties!

Here's a reply ............ HALLOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! :D

I have pretty much the same criteria as yourself, Ann, although sometimes I miss a topic becausse it has dropped to the bottom of the list without me seeing it

Sometimes I only have time to scan read the topics and don't reply immediately but I try to reply at a later stage, especially for those I consider to be my buddies :huggles:

you shouldnt feel obliged to reply to a post thou....reply if you find it interesting...

I'm much like everyone else ... I try to reply to people I consider online friends, but sometimes don't want to butt in on what seem like private conversations or sometimes can't think of anything to say that hasn't been said already. Equally I might read and intend to reply now or later, but my computer has a mind of it's own and won't always let me, or I get distracted and forget. I also reply where I hope I have something useful to contribute or where it seems someone may just need a word of support or kindness even if I don't 'know' the poster. And I'm sure I sometimes stick my nose in where it's not wanted lol

Do you all go to 'See new post's' or go to

certain sections like 'whippets' for example ?

I always go to view new posts . I reply to people who have been friendly towards me , topics I feel strongly about or have experience of . I also try to be welcoming of new people , admire nice photos and also reply to people who don't seem to have many replies :b

I go to certain areas on here, chitchat, general whippets, then I browse through other areas...

Sometimes I want to reply but I cant decide on which reply :clown: depends on how much cider

if i see something that interests me, or that i might know something about, or something i hadnt known about, i read it. mind you, im very wary of stormys posts, never quite know whether to expect something serious, funny, or a rant against crocs... what i answer to is something, if it were a converstaion, i'd have to say, if you know what i mean? be it an adorable picture, or in a debate something that hasnt been brought up that might be valid, if its something ive been through or heard of, advice. if ive never heard about it, i want to know more. completely random in other words :D

That's an interesting point ... I do too, but on the rare occasions when I've had a slightly hostile exchange of views with someone I also always try to reply positively afterwards to something that they post ... I think it's so easy to fall out online when you can't hear tone of voice or see body languge and it's important not to let what would have been a minor difference of opinion in the real world become an issue in the online one.
