Well it's probably a fluke but ........

I took my lot out rabbiting this morning as I think its about time the youngsters had a go .......So off we go across our village to a place we call the rabbit run ......... We get to the second field that always has plenty of rabbits and I let Eric off with his Mum Inca .....Inca knows that the rabbits are always way across the field, so off they set, the pennie soon drops and Eric looked a natural ......Inca has the first rabbit and Eric joined her on her second when out of the hedge about 50 yards away a bloody Muntjac appears  ........ Great I think .....Mother and son forget about the rabbits ....with their heads down and side by side they start stalking him (w00t) ......I called Eric who naturally was straight back, but I've never been able to call Inca back when shes so close to a chase etc ..... I call Inca come ...no ....I call out this way, she looks, but no .....I run away from her (which wasn't easy I can tell you with a pack of Whippets going mental and wanting to join Inca :- " ) .......So I reside myself to the fact that she'll be off chasing it ..and as she was getting closer to him and he was happily wandering away from the hedge row and into the field I was trying to work out that when she did go, do I let her get a pasting by herself, or would I let my other 2 older ones off to help her  ......So as a last ditched attempt I called Inca fetch the bunnies ......To my amazement she spun round and ran to the first rabbit and picked it up, then onto the second rabbit and kinda managed to retrieve the pair back to me :D ......I should have taken my camera so I could have bored you all :- " ......Any way Inca safely on the lead we carried on our merry way :D

Sounds great fun, i would love to take Tilly out rabbiting, but no rabbits where we are :(

Well done Inca  Now if that was Gelert, I'd be wondering what he was planning  as he only does obedience when he's trying to distract you from some greater scheme. ;) He will always come back from roe deer for some reason though.

Trouble is all our bunny walks are like this nowadays as we're completely over run with the things here, to the point where I just avoid all these places now; I just can't take the risk anymore :( Retrieving? Spend half an hour trying to get him back when he found half a rabbit the fox had left yesterday.

I expect you are rather pleased :teehee:

Mind you, I'm not (w00t) I wanna see pics of you trying to run in the opposite direction with the rest of the pack all trying to get you to go the other way :- "

Well done Inca, most impressive o:)

Well done, bet you were chuffed

LOL .....Incas very obedient until theres something to kill  ......This is part of the reason she dosn't really "do" racing I think  .....Shes fearless on live and at 21lbs and only 18.5" has managed fox (pre ban) .....Her and Jacob were great to see together ....... Connie and Vinnie's now taking after her

Mind you, I'm not w00t.gif I wanna see pics of you trying to run in the opposite direction with the rest of the pack all trying to get you to go the other way whistling.gif

(w00t) .....My arms are still aching ...... I did nearly go at one stage, which wouldn't have been fun as I loop the handles of the leads over my wrist ......It would have been a cross between mushing and bob sleighing face first in mud

(w00t) That would have been well worth seeing  Reckon that will be one of those moments that will stay in your head for ever ;)

Well done Inca, never mind the impressive obedience skills, the word recognition is pretty hot too :p

I think they probably have a lot in common  in which case I'm deeply in awe (w00t) Seriously though, G will dissimulate obedience to put you off guard which makes him very hard to handle and I never give him the benefit of the doubt now.

He doesn't really do racing either as he spends to much time pondering and calculating his best option for getting the moving thing all to himself, by which time it's all over :- " I think coursers have a completely different mindset from racers (well that's my excuse :- " ) You ought to get your lot doing more wiggley runs ;)

I think coursers have a completely different mindset from racers (well that's my excuse whistling.gif laughing.gif )

Most coursers think too much .....I have this problem with Inca, Eric and Connie ....Nearly all of the best racers are as thick as 2 short planks IMO ...... as for ......

You ought to get your lot doing more wiggley runs

LOL ....Inca did 1 BSFA run and in that time clocked the finish ....She,Eric and Connie have never done a complete course ..... ....Inca goes back to the finish and waits while her partner brings the lure back to her :- " .....

But saying that would I ever change the way they are and breed for speed only ?? ....No ....Connie's OH we have lined up is 1/2 racing and 1/2 coursing bred .....They may be brighter and not always willing racers, but the health, bone and temperaments will be there ;)
