Now tell me its none of my biz , but if you dont intend to breed what is the point of having a kennel name  :wacko:
It costs alot of money initially ,( well I think it was alot , about £50.00 I think I paid )land then at least £12.00 a year , every year after and for what  :- "

If you have a litter then peps know they are bred by you , but if you just add your name on the end it seems abit silly to me , As I said JMO  :cheers:

cos I'm proud of my boy and I want him to be my Bluestreak dog :huggles:

I wanted one even when my others were ex-show dogs, want them to have my name - someone has to, the kids ain't :- " (w00t) :lol:

and as for the money, well, when I think how much I spent at the last champ show we went to, it seems a bit of a bargin to have something that lasts a whole year ;)

I've got an affix just because I wanted one, I felt it made them their own family rather than all different breeding, especially when we were at racing ect and also for the website :)

It costs about £95 to get it and £20 to upkeep :thumbsup:

it seems a thing recently that eveyone wants an Affix?

I know of some where they have 1 whippet dog and no intentions of getting anymore (we all say that LOL) yet theyve gone out and bought an Affix?.

Don't see a problem myself. If you choose only to have dogs and not bitches for whatever reason can you not have a collective name for them, have they got to be the "Assorted Group of Dogs Bred by Other People Kennel of Whippets". It's not harming anyone. I have owned my prefix since 1984, it was first registered with the kennel Club before the war, I took it over to safeguard it, and it will go on my boys names later in the year. The annual cost is probably equal to a few bottles of wine, a few packets of cigarettes, etc. My prefix is one of my most treasured possessions and means more to me than people can imagine.

It's obvious how long I have been associated with it becasue I still call it Prefix.

Jenny, as usual, you sum it up perfectly :cheers:

Good luck whatever name that comes up Alison :luck: :luck: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

My name was made up from hubby name,Robert + Dawn,which resulted in ROBADAW :D :D we got it first time :thumbsup:

as i said , JMO :huggles:

I think the KC make enough out of us as it is ;)

Jenny , you're a different case :wacko: , Yours belonged to your parents and has alot of meaning to others as well as yourself :huggles:

and Alison , I know what you mean too , but it seems its getting more like a fashion accessory . :huggles:

Why not go for `Doris` :lol:

Sorry Alison, to be really annoying, the KC gave me 1st choice on 1st time of trying :D just luck I should think, mine is done on our names

ARCKUM

A= ANNALESE

R= RICHARD

C= CRACKER

K= KATHY

UM= we used to call the dog I lost in Sept, his fun name as he was so aristocratic

M- MARK OH

there we go, got it in one! :cheers:

I've always thought a great Affix (must get the terminology right) would be Myprerogative, then when you take the dogs out you could be 'exercising my prerogative' but my most favourite affix has always been Yooneek (I think it's a boxer kennel) who registered a bitch puppy Yookeek and Lovely, what a delightful name.

Doris, why didn't I think of that? :lol:

so Monty could be bluestreak Bright Side with Doris (w00t)

Jackie, I don't need a kennel name as a fashion accessory - I've got 2 iggies :- " :p :oops:

Jenny, you are too intelligent for me :b

Jenny

Should read Yooneek and Lovely :thumbsup:

Yooneek, I just got it :wacko:

told you I wasn't very bright :- "

I could follow Dawn's example and use mine and Wayne's names, we could be WALLI or ALIWAY (w00t) :p

My 'Dorwest' affix has been in my family for near 40 years which is why I chose to use on my boys as well. Now that I have a bitch and hope to breed at somepoint in the future I wanted my own affix which is why I we now have 'Ipanema'.

How about 'Whipali' (w00t)

How about 'sunny' words from a different language?

Ensoleillé - French

Solaris or Solis - Latin

asoleado - Spanish
