I Want A Kennel Name

Allisun (my favourite) - (play on Alison + Sunny)

Allsun

Almoore ("Al" from Alison + Moore)

Montalli Montali Montalley Montaliso Allmont (variations of Monty + Alison)

Whippalli Whipalley Whipali (Oops - just saw Jo already suggested that ... I like it :b )

Any of those take your fancy, Alison?

If things haven't changed here since I applied for my prefix (a long time ago) we are asked to give six choices at a time.

I'm astonished the American KC doesn't make it mandatory for people to register their kennel names.

As its Monty who has made you want an affix and as you call him Monty Magic, why not have something with Magic in the name. Magicsun or Sunmagic.

ah, they're really nice, great ideas

but I'd feel bad to leave Devon out, poor dog, he hasn't got the honour of being our first whippet or the baby :( we we always call him the best dog in the house cos he is so lovely to live with :huggles:

Oh I love 'with Doris'!  That really would be unique!

I'm just thinking up names for your first litter

'Haveyourway with Doris'

'Havealaugh with Doris'

I can't possible type the next one I've thought of (w00t) but I'm still thinking

Maybe it should Mondesun, or Sundemon or Demonsun or Desunmon

Mmm Demonsun has a nice ring to it!

actually, reading them again, they're still Sunny names cos his show name was Silkstone Must Be Magic

Jenny, I don't know what you've heard about me :- "

Demonsun, does that mean the whippets have to worship it? Very clever Beth

How about

ALIKAZAM

I think it's a magician's word although I rather think it's an 'a' not 'i,' but it's got Ali in and has a Magic connection for Monty and Sunny.

Now tell me its none of my biz , but if you dont intend to breed what is the point of having a kennel name
It costs alot of money initially ,( well I think it was alot , about £50.00 I think I paid )land then at least £12.00 a year , every year after and for what  :- "

If you have a litter then peps know they are bred by you , but if you just add your name on the end it seems abit silly to me , As I said JMO

Well actually Nick and I weren't going to get an affix for just this reason (at the time we had no plans to breed), but we were actually encouraged to get one after we got our 2nd show whippet so that the dogs we were showing would also be easily associated with us as the owners and would also show that we are in this for the long haul. Even if we only ever bought dogs in, you could identify the breeder and the owner by the affixes being on both ends of the name.

So after talking it through and looking at it from that perspecitive we went ahead and did it.

I've always thought a great Affix (must get the terminology right) would be Myprerogative, then when you take the dogs out you could be 'exercising my prerogative' but my most favourite affix has always been Yooneek (I think it's a boxer kennel) who registered a bitch puppy Yookeek and Lovely, what a delightful name.
Jenny

One of my favourites belongs to a friend of mine in the States - they're WildAbout Whippets.

Alison doesn't think I'm pulling my weight here. So I have wracked my worn out brain for a few ideas.

here they are for what they are worth

These are the sun ones:

Sunrunner

Inca (they worshiped the Sun)

Sunbathers

Sunshiny

Sunlovers

or how about "beachbum whippets"

Sunspot

Have you tried sunwalkers, I know they didn't like sunwalk)

That is the best I can come up with at the moment

How about Mustbemagic

I am one of those 'only got dogs' 'not going to breed' type peeps that you are referring to, although my Kennel Name is NOT a fashion accessory.

For one thing, I have never been a follower of fashion

Secondly, I am very proud of my lads, and I wanted to bring them together with myself somehow, under an 'umbrella' of some kind.

I had thought about having a website for a long time, and more so since SBSD dropped in, but it seemed hard to achieve without a Kennel Name. What on earth would I call it

As far as chosing is concerned, that was easy....I wanted Corazon (personal to me :b ) so I sent it off with a little note saying that this was my only choice, and if I couldn't have it could they please contact me to cancel my payment. I don't really do surprises, so I didn't want to find out they had just selected one of my six

After all that, I couldn't have it as someone already has Torazon and names have to be 3 letters different. I gave them my second choice over the phone and it was accepted, woo hoo!

Dawn seemed to think that combining Whippet and Chamberlain was an excellent idea (even though it was said in jest) and she came up with this logo :- "

whipchamber.gif

But I declined her wonderful offer :teehee:

Since I am committed to the breed, and am here to stay, having a Kennel Name seemed the logical (if a little expensive) way to do this

Hope this doesn't offend, just wanted to let you know why I have one, when at this point in time I have absolutely no intention to breed.

I have put Monty in both our names, which I thought was fair cos Wayne did pay for him :- " and an extra pass for shows is often useful ;)

Just thinking about your two other Whippie boys and thought of

DEVONSUN- sounds like a bit of an obvious one though so could already be taken

or, since Sunny was your first Whippet and Genie was your first Iggie, how about

SUNGENIE or GENIESUN

Sorry, I am not imaginative enough to think of one incorporating all their names
