If You Own A Paper Shredder

poor little thing.......

better make sure ours is put somewhere safe

Thats terrible - poor little thing :( I shred loads of stuff for security after being a victim of identity fraud (and I also use it for the guinea pig bedding). However, I am also one of those 'pull every plug out which is not in use' freaks so my shredder is never plugged in when I'm not using it :p

It has still made me think though and I will be extra careful from now on. Also very important for people who are lucky enough to be able to take their dogs to work - make sure they don't have access to the shredding room, the shredder at my work place is always on auto.

thats just awful, poor little thing :(

A friend of mine in the States was VERY lucky - her whippet had it catch the tip of his tongue before hubby switched it off. Was quite a mess at the time, and now he has a funny 'flowery' bit at the end of his tongue, but it could have been so much worse.

My shredder is in the spare bedroom. If not in use it is unplugged from the wall (not just switched off) as that's a visual cue to me that it's safe, AND when in use the dogs are banned from the room.

You can't be too careful.

Thanks for that nicky ..... i do have a shredder, it is often left plugged in and in the auto position, and is often well within reach of nosey noses

or should that read

it was often left plugged in and in the auto position, and was well within reach of nosy noses.

had never occurred to me that something like that might happen (w00t)

A terrible story-very sad.

Seems quite a few of you have shredders.....

I'm looking to buy one-any recommendations please?

Make? Best price?

It will only be for household use.....

Get a cross-cut one Karen rather than one that just shreds it into strips....much harder for ppl to stick back together

I just got a cheap shredder from b&q, think it cost about £8. I didn't get a cross cut one because we use ours for the guinea pigs, don't think anyone will want to stick it back together after it has been wee weed on :p

THANK YOU  JEZZA AND URCHIN

I WANT TO USE IT FOR OUR FERRETS BEDDING
