Here's my Baton's son Viking, who currently lives with me (until I will find him new owners). Yesterday I was trying to make several good shots with him, he is veeery hard to stack (I don't usually like to stack dogs like this) and those ears! (w00t)

We started with a portrait (w00t)

Three weeks earlier he had normal ears, here pictured with his dad.

Then some stacked shots. He definitely decided he's a GSD!

These ones a bit better. Poor my fingers, it was a dangerous trick.

Looking at this face you would say he's angel o:)

But... then he found his auntie Piratka and wanted to play with her (while his daddy prefered to stay aside).

Lovely colouring, and he does look rather like an Ibizan now. Bet you will be glad when he is over teething and those ears return to something akin to normal! Good luck with him.

Right - Ibizian, I forgot the name of this breed.

And he is just like his daddy Baton, who had the same ears at this age, I thought he would never have them normal, but at a certain period they became correct and never looked like GSD ears later. So I hope Vik's ears will improve.

What are you doing on his back?? Are you pinching his skin? If so, why?

I've seen a lot of Swedish and Finnish people use this technique too - they gently pinch along the topline - I think they do it to improve the topline - but IMHO it just flattens it.

Can you enlighten us ?

No-no! Of course I'm not pinching his skin! I don't know about others, but I would never make any hurt to my dogs, especially when teaching small puppy to stack (how can he be happy in the ring then if he knows that I will pinch his skin? )! I've just made a little push to his back, just to fix him, not to make his topline look better or something. I wrote - I don't usually stack dogs like that, but this puppy is not bred by me and his breeder didn't teach him to stack at all. So, I have to teach him now before he goes to a new home and I'm sure that in couple of weeks I'll be able to stack him without using this technology.

This is how I used to stack my puppies, even at a bit younger age.

aslan, I guess some people use that trick to make dog's front and angulation look better, not sure though.

Here's a former GSD (or Ibizian?) Viking :)

he's a bit better in stacking, his ears look normal finally, teething is over and... he started lifting his leg recently!

Well he's definitely been practising, and looking very well for it

Glad to see the ears have calmed down :- "

Beautiful dogs. on the first picture - could be an Ibizan hound or a pharoah  but still gorgeous.

He is really coming along. How old is he now?

He has such beautiful dark pigment, he is coming along really well.

Thank you everyone for nice comments about Vik :huggles: Yes, he behaves much better now. :)

Lida, he is 5,5 months, he is quite small, I don't think he will be bigger than 50 cm.
