I see there is a 6 month old red fawn Ig boy for sale in the ad trader for £750.00!

That price is a bit excessive is it not?

wow, that is loads of money, wonder what they paid for him

:( free greyhounds too

What prices di IG go for these days i priced some up about 8 years ago and they where between £400-£600. A breeder put me off though she said they are quite nippy and hard to house train is this true.

Do you have a number for this?

Our breed are absolutely NOT advertised like this & i would like to know where the hell this dog has come from.

I'm sure our breed rescue & committee would be most interested to know who is breeding and advertising one of the breed like this.

They are a specialist breed & owners & breeders alike are urged NEVER to advertise in this fashion, careful selection of the right type of home must ALWAYS be sort out, they are a delicate breed with extremeley fragile legs.

Unfortunately of late we have had a few money makers jump on the band wagon selling pups willy nilly with disastrous results which has left rescue to mop up.

If you have a number i would be most grateful?

Unfortunately £750 is not expensive these days for an IG and the prices have hit the £1000 mark for a bitch. There is an individual in East Anglia who is selling Iggies as a rare breed and apparently if they are blue that is very rare :- " and warrants a higher price tag.

There is a lot more I could say about all this but quite honestly I cant be bothered. I can sleep at night which is more than some breeders can.

Hi Jan, i know who you are talking about, makes you sick doesn't it & our elusive Mr H is still in the breeding market too isn't he???

I've contacted a few people so maybe we can get some help for this poor little mite.

mine are yappy, not nippy - just as annoying and embarrassing sometimes

and mine are house trained, they ask to go out :))

they are even ok when I go to work o:)

never quite got used to holding on over night though, even if I'm on late shift and don't go to bed until 2am, and my old man gets up at 6am

Thanks Doris, always fancied having one but this breeder put me off mind you i have a 14lb whippet and a 5 week old pup from her whos only 3lb at the moment so think thats the closest im going to get. :))

Sorry I didn't get you the telephone number for the Ig. I have only just logged on since last time but I see you have managed to get it.

Would love to know what happens to the little man.

Here's another ad from the Ezpup site - the price is £750 and the person lives in Herts - 5mth old red fawn italian greyhound dog puppy, microchipped and vaccinated, currently living outside in heated run. full kc registered, change of cicumstance forces sad sale. price is a guide, open to offer, to very very good home only! Sad family illness has made me make this very sad decision, please ring me as i wish for a permanent loving home for red.No time wasters please, i have enough to deal with. thank you for your time

I think this is actually the same person from the other advertisement. The same comments apply & the situation is not that sad that she is now asking £750 for a puppy she originally paid £450 for!!! :(

If a genuinely good home was really being sought, there are lots of lovely people with kind loving homes waiting on our rescue list. Perhaps if she dropped her price considerably there are many of these people who would be prepared to pay a reasonable price with a donation going to rescue.

Bottom line is whats more important the money factor or the home???? :- "

I'm lead to believe that the puppy was bought as one of a pair from someone who breeds in a caravan and advertises on the internet but the one for sale does not get on with a child of the family and possibly lives outside with a whippet. The asking price is close to double that paid (allegedly) I should love to contribute to getting the poor thing out of that home but as I have been told repeatedly we canot buy all the IG's that have been inappropriately homed and if we did it would only encourage those unscrupulous people to carry on breeding ad infinitum. I really don't know the answer to this problem which leaves me feeling very inadequate.
