Hi, without turning this post into a slanging match or fight can someone explain why Italian Greyhound puppies are so expensive.

there is only 1 factor that commands such high prices and that is greed.WIGGY said:I've heard and seen various prices between £1000 and £2000 and was just wondering what are the factors that command such a price. Thanks.
Thanks for your reply its only that I'm on the lists of two people that are breeding in the future and both want around the £500 mark. I was just wondering if the puppies that were more than double in price were anything special or if they were from a certain line or something. Thanks again for your honest answer. You're the first to explain this out of over 100 people that have viewed this post !!! :cheers:Kurwenal said:there is only 1 factor that commands such high prices and that is greed.WIGGY said:I've heard and seen various prices between £1000 and £2000 and was just wondering what are the factors that command such a price. A fair price imo for an IG puppy is roughly around the £500 mark.
£1000+ prices are completely unjustified.
Hi yes I've asked her but she thinks it may be better to ask people that have bred them before . Also she has no intention of breeding in the future. I think shes more into showing them at the moment. Ta :thumbsup:raceylady said:Have you asked Tanya wiggy?? She should have a good idea....
it was my intention to breed as i explained on the phone , but i have a few things i certainly want to be 100% on before i do, if ever go ahead? i feel im sound and experienced enough for whippets , only ever having spent most my life with them (w00t) but with only almost 3 yrs with igs and limited help and advice it will take much longer to maybe acheive what i wish to acheive :thumbsup:WIGGY said:Hi yes I've asked her but she thinks it may be better to ask people that have bred them before . it is often (although not exclusively) the case that puppies being advertised for £1000+ are not being sold by reputable breeders, who have a proven track record - they are actually seldom from top winning stock or CH parents and in many cases are from a completely random mating that has been picked for convenience rather than any particular aim. It is perfectly possible for the right person to get a IG puppy from top quality lines for a reasonable price.WIGGY said:Thanks for your reply its only that I'm on the lists of two people that are breeding in the future and both want around the £500 mark. totally agree, its horrible when you see things like 'unusual' and 'rare colours' just to bump up the price even more!Kurwenal said:there is only 1 factor that commands such high prices and that is greed.A fair price imo for an IG puppy is roughly around the £500 mark.
