It is with delight & much relief that I can report Jasmine has come through her surgery successfully :sweating:

I started to reply to the PMs but decided it was more practical to post this, but please be assured the PMs have been appreciated very, very much.

Jas fractured her femur Lure Coursing last Sunday, the broken piece of bone became twisted round her ligament virtually severing it. After a lot of fancy screws, wires & nylon fixtures the X-ray looks good!

Hopefully, few of you will have experienced the shock & horror of watching your hound suffer such an accident. But you will all understand the urgency with which you try to race towards it. I can tell you my legs were complete jellified & as fast as I tried to run they buckled & twisted, it was like trying to run through deep water. Jas was appearing to be further away each second that passed. But suddenly an athletic 'whippet move alike' appeared from the end of the parked cars & raced faster than a coursed hare towards Jas!!! It was Dessie! o:) I probably didn't even say thanks, as I had no breath left, but Jas had company & company I knew I could trust, so I was able to complete my attempt at a sprint!

Poor, poor Jasmine - what a thing to happen but she sounds like she has had good, prompt treatment and should do well.

Thinking of you both :luck: :luck: - and well done Dessie for coming to the rescue like that!

I am so pleased to here that Jasmine has come through surgery o.k.

I can just imagine what you felt when she had her accident,i have experienced that "running through deep water"feeling & I wouldn't wish it on anyone!

Hugs & kisses for little Jasmine & wishing her a speedy recovery  :huggles:

Bridget give Jasmine many hugs and kisses from me.

I can imagine Dessie sprinting thus to the aid of a needie whippie.

I too know that running through water feeling and it's dreadful.

Oh bless, poor Jasmine, that is one hell of a plaster :( So glad the surgery went well though - lots of wishes for a speedy recovery :luck: :luck:

I really sorry to hear about your girl :( and im hoping she makes afull recovery

but that is the precise reason why I stopped taking mine Lure Coursing (w00t) Yes ,I know they love it , and yes, I know they could break legs just running in a field playing , but its the fact that they are running extra hard and extra keenly that puts the extra strain on their bodies ,

I would never , ever , forgive myself if one of mine where to injure itself during a course .

And before you all start , A) I use to race Greyhounds and b) Ive had one break his leg just running in a field , so I know Exactley what Im on about .

Good luck to Jasmine, lots of cuddles and sympathy from all at Bruntsfield. Please keep us posted as to her progress. I also know that running through water feeling, it is awful, the last time it was when my 13 year old hung herself on a barbed wire fence the other side of a big, big field, it seemed like a mile away, and no Dessie to come to the rescue. Fortunately Bel is all over it now, it healed up fine, an anaesthetic, about 23 stitches and another big bandage later. There is no fool like an old fool, she had quite given up chasing off after rabbits with the youngsters, hadn't she!!! She now has to have a lead on at that bit of the walk.

awwwwwwww less, speedy recovery to Jasmine   :huggles: :huggles: o:) o:)

Sorry Jasbri, I have written a reply on the coursing forum, but couldn't resist bearing testament to Dessie's dash to assist :- "

I have to say that although you felt like you were treading water, you certainly zoomed past us pretty damn quickly to reach her

Just glad that she's through the op and can start to recover now

p.s. think it would be prudent to mention that Jasbri is a bit of a hero too, you know. She was just ready to release her dog on the course, when she put a halt to proceedings to make an emergency run over to help my pup who was in trouble.

Think we might have to start a "superhero" thread soon :- "

:luck: :luck: A very Speedy recovery Jasmine :luck: :luck:

PS Well done Bridget (Jasbri)!

Poor Jasmine, what a dreadful injury she sustained. Running dogs are really not for the faint hearted are they! Here's wishing her a speedy and full recovery, and big hugs to Bridget too, the lovely lady who is always smiling. (Flossie says "see you soon".

Riley

Get well soon Jasmine :luck:  :D :luck:

Hope Jasmine makes a full recovery soon with lots of TLC I am sure she will.

I know what you mean about the "jelly legs" - I had an IG who broke her leg [just playing about in the conservatory] I will never ever forget the screaming - it was awful. :luck:
