Not a cough all day long and then this evening, just after she woke up to go out, she kicked off again hacking and sneezing like a good 'un (w00t)

And to make it worse, Ella is doing it too :(

I've gotta leave at 5.30 tomorrow morning so I've told my OH to get them both to the vet if it gets any worse or they stop eating etc etc :(

They do pick their moments - now I'm gonna be worrying like mad all the time I'm away. Not back til Friday night (w00t) (w00t)

Tell you OH to give them some honey in warm water, with a drop of lemon juice. It's very soothing & works wonders

Over the weekend Jinny has been sneezing and coughing - not huge amounts but it isn't normal :(
She's OK in herself, playing and eating normally and, at the moment, no sign of swollen glands.  Also no sign of mucus or temperature.

Problem is, I've got to go away for 4 day meeting and I know I am going to really worry - especially as Ella is still so young and liable to pick up any infection :( My husband will be here but he's not very observant and probably won't notice any change in them

As we are so isolated where we live, none of my dogs are ever in a situation where they meet other dogs apart from the occasional neighbour but I wondered if anyone knows how long Bordatella (kennel cough) incubates for because my builder brought his border terrier here on Saturday and they were playing together - I noticed the first cough/sneeze from Jinny on Saturday night :(

Have anyone else's dogs been sneezing or coughing lately???

i would put colloidal silver in her water in any case

best wishes

OH is under instruction to acquire some :)

poor loves, they should start to improve in about 4 to 7 days :huggles: it certainly sounds worse than what it is.

Hi Jane,

Just read about poor Jinny as i've been away but my Finbarr has had in the past coughs and i always give him Echinaecea/goldenseal drops and it workswonders also homeopathic Byronia and hes always recovers quickly

Echinaecea/Goldenseal is very good to give from time to time anyway, as its a strong boost to the immune system

wishing you all well :))

Years ago my vet always recommended Benylin for kc to open the airways and clear the gunk from the broncheal tubes.

The most important thing is to keep them warm in case they have a slight temperature and STAY WELL AWAY FROM OTHER DOGS. Kennel Cough is highly contagious and although it is doesn't cause too many problems for the majority of dogs, it can be very dangerous to young pups, or elderly dogs with maybe a heart complaint. Lets face it, how many of us actually know what dogs may be at someones home when we bump into them on a walk - have they a litter, have they a poorly one recovering from surgery? The possibilities are endless and if kc is introduced to their household, it could have serious consequences.

An acquaintance rang me the other day to say that her GSD had been diagnosed with kennel cough and her vet had ordered her to keep the dog indoors for 12 days so as not to spread it any further.
