K9 will be unavailable for a few hours this afternoon - Saturday 28 July.

We are moving onto a new server. I'll try & keep the down time as short as possible & you shouldn't need to make any changes to any settings or anything on our return...

Ok Nigel..I will go out and take more pics to post when K9 is back on....just for a change :- " :p

OMG, how will we cope (w00t) 8)

Well at least its happening on a nice sunny day, so it would have been quiet

on here anyway

Well that was exciting.... What should have been reasonably straightforward turned into a bit of a nightmare (w00t)

We had to change servers to move to an updated Operating System. After moving all my sites to the new server the server owners went and changed dns entries to the new server IP instead of changing the IP address of the new server to the same as the old

Anyway... after a stressful evening I think we're back on the right heading :sweating:

Thank god your back, someone rang me last night totally devastated that it wasnt on, then sent me a text 2 hours later saying it still wasnt on. (w00t) :- " hope you can get on now Mrs. :- "

Well, I'm pretty pleased we're back on as well....

I did a trial run at moving just K9 files and database to the new server a couple of days ago & it took about 40 minutes - package everything up, move it & then restore. Yesterday I did the same thing, package everything up, move to new server & it failed half way through the restore... So on to plan B) drag everything over directly - that worked but took nearly 2 hours.

Then just ask the host to change IP addresses & we'd be there (it was now about 7PM). They were meant to be changing the IP addresses of the new server to the same as the old, so everything would look just like it did but we'd be on the new server... No, they changed the IP addresses in the nameserver to the new server IP address. That would sort have been ok if the new server actually worked but they forgot to licence the Control Panel so it didn't serve any web pages. Then, instead of correcting that problem they put back the old server.... but now everyone had cached the wrong IP addresses. Then that 'Support' person finished work for the day!!!

2 hours later I managed to get onto the shift supervisor by raising an emergency ticket & he eventually managed to sort out the mess... we're not actually on the same IP address as we were but it's close & either old or new work...

Until the next time... :- "

anyone else start twitching and getting grumpy? :- " nigel it was terrible being without k9!!!!!!! :(

Next time could you arrange a support group for those of us whom are empty without our fix of k9 :huggles:

hey but chat was working !!! :D
